Fortifications Disappearing?

I had 3 Forts in front of Leningrad. One was attacked, it held. Now all 3 have vanished?

Is there any WAD reason why this would happen?

I can supply files if needed.

Also, I cannot build a new fort in the now void hexes?

The forts hold for one turn if the soviets didn't take back the next turn, they disappear.

I have not been dislodged. I hold all three. Only one was attacked and it cost the Germans 9000 men. Why would they disappear without being attacked. I will post some screenies.

Ok see the first image, 25th August. I have all hexes with forts.

2nd image 29th August. The red circled hex was attacked but it held, so maybe the fort was damaged. Fair enough.

But the 3rd image, 2nd Sept. Again he attacked the red circle. Again it held. But why would the other two forts vanish?

This is the question….

I'm Michael's opponent in this game (in which he's pretty much stopped me cold across the front!). The disappearing fortifications are the result of the diligent efforts of German pioneers over the course of several turns. Manual 6.1.13 explains the dynamic - but basically, if you leave units that have theatre-level artillery support next to fortifications long enough, the forts will be eroded and eventually will disappear.

Not that it mattered in this case - I've smashed most of 18th Army against the entrenched defenders of Leningrad, to no avail!
