When will the Dec 8 Campaign end?

Post by zulurider »

I'm still playing the Allies and I'm into April 1946 -- is there a hard coded date when the scenario will end?

If I am not mistaken it might be even until June or October 1946. Just check via the Editor.

Years ago I ran an AI game to engine shut-down. My best recollection was it ended in the 20s of April 1946. There might be a random in there.

The editor says Stock scenario 1 is 1634 turns if you want to do the math.

You should have an option to mop up the Pacific islands at least until 1973.

I plan to have Loka rooting out holdouts in New Guinea until the "divine wind" of the Y2K bug breaks American morale.

He'll just wait until the late 50s, air-drop copies of Playboy magazine, and get out of the way to avoid the rush from the trees.[:D]

Indeed, the game is hard-coded to ensure that this event takes place:

According to Ginger, she's Secret Agent 37, 25, 36. I think she comes equipped with devices that only Naval Support can unload.

I was going to mention pontoons, but then I decided not to. [:'(]

I think, all kinds of support will fight each other for the opportunity. Navy won't necessarily win this.
And that's why those secret agents are so dangerous I guess

That secret agent's clothing looks far too clean for being marooned on an island all those months. She must take it off and wash it frequently .... which may be why the Captain, Gilligan and The Professor never wanted to be rescued![;)]

Once you get on the Ginza you will forget about Gilligan's Island ... and Mrs. Howell. [:D]

The same linked article mentions two others (including the one from the Philippines):

1) Second Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda led a guerrilla task force on the Philippine island of Lubang for many years after the end of the war. He doggedly refused to lay down his arms until formally ordered to surrender. Repatriated March 1974.

2) Private Teruo Nakamura, a conscript from Taiwan, was found growing crops alone on the Indonesian island of Morotai in December 1974. He was repatriated to Taiwan where he died in 1979.
