No Move here mission

Post by Chris21wen »

Why is there no 'Move here' mission for constructor ships. If it's a bug it needs fixing, if it's by design it's crud.

What is the issue? I am quite sure I have seen moving construction ships in this game.

Ctrl-right click should bring up all options. You may have to be zoomed all the way in though.

It does not, all I get is move or sometimes build here. I have tried on many zoom levels. In case it's something I've done or were I an in my current game I've started two new one and there do not have the 'move here' option for constructors.

I can't honestly remember if I've ever tried it on constructors before, I suppose I must have but as I said I can't remember. It matters not as it is not there now.

Ah, I understand now.

It is quite possible that it has never been there. Do other ship types have "Move Here" in that situation? I believe I only use that mission when I micromanage fleet attacks or send a ship to check the locations marked after destroying pirate bases.

What I would do then is zoom very far in on a specific system, so that I can point at a spot in space and do "move here". Move here should not make much sense from the zoom level you use. I seem to remember from this that the option may not appear unless "very close in". Either that, or I zoom that far in in order to be sure to target the correct spot...

Bingeling is right. You have to be zoomed in to the "move here" target, or maybe it's because you're still pre-warp trying to move to another system. Idk, but I haven't had your problem before. It works on my end.

The last pic is a new game.  The first isn't, it's an old game where all systems have been explored.

In the first pic I was trying to move to the special area where I know there are some damaged ships but the only way I can do it is to move another ship (usually a scout) to the area to re-find what's there.  Being able to move other ships like this means that 'Move here' works for them, also I have tried all possible zoom levels.  It simply does not work.

This what another ship looks like

And if you move in to the same level with a construction ship? Maybe the default order is different, so do control right click to be sure.

I am surprised you see "move here" while that far out, I imagine the order used in situations where I can clearly see the ship graphics, not just a ship marker like in your image.

And to be clear, I have not opened the game or tried this since you first asked the question, so I am commenting by hazy memory and general game understanding :)

And as I also said, I find "Move Here" to be a very specific order. Used only in specific circumstances like micro managing combat or making sure a ship (explorer or military) drop out of hyperspace on an exact spot designed to discover any alien ship parked there without further need to micro manage. In all other cases I move "To" something.

That's why I came across the problem.

I have tried control, shift, and every other click I can think of. I've tried all zooms, new games. old games, swearing but there simply is no 'Move here' option.

So, I launched DW Universe, and started a tiny, mature custom game. No mods as far as I know, this is not the computer where I would actually play a game.

Once I got control I grabbed a construction ship.

Control right click on "space" outside the capital:
