Great discussions on Portland strategies![&o]

Operations in northern China..the goal to link up with the northern spearhead. Not trying to destroy Chinese units, but to get them to retreat and suffer losses.

Like the result here.

A new plane in service. Hard to quantify how important the Oscar IIb is, a big step up from Nates and Oscar Ib, Ic.

Ok, I might be warming to a Portland strike.

Might be. Enough to start planning out how to do it.

I mean, I don't know for SURE that it's base forces and engineers. There's almost certainly some kind of combat unit present there, given the total troop/gun numbers, but the number of units, number of planes based there, and number of "AFVs" make me think there is a combination of USAAF base force(s) and Seabees (maybe also USN BFs).

With that number of units and the number of planes, there's no way there's a full strength division there (which is about 10-13K troops).

Oh, I agree with you Lok on your estimate. Less than a division, but still nasty. But how to deceive long enough to land many divisions at 100 percent prep, after having probably the day before really pounded Astoria (but not yet invaded).[&:]

Here is a cut and paste from my new Onenote system for organizing and planning, this in the fighter section.

Avoiding Allied Signet will be impossible as well. You will need to have a lot of other units planning for other targets to provide some from of fog in the reports. It will still be difficult to avoid tipping your hand since unit locations are reported fairly often. If a unit is on the Russian boarder it will be fairly easy to discount it's target.

Correct, Andav, and thanks for reading. Your input is always highly valued![&o]

I struggle with this daily![:D] And to be honest, it is one of the reasons why I liked the San Diego operation. Easier to mislead a Portland/Canada attack and sneak in at San Diego (or at least I think so). Who would invade near San Diego when you already have bases in Canada/Alaska?

In today's action I am bombing Vancouver, sweeping with Tojo IIa, and LRCAP with A6M5 and A6M3a. I want Jocke to see the new fighter models & despair.[;)]

What's going on outside of Liuchow? What are those Chinese doing there?
