Although there has been alot of Bowie the last 24 hours, I've completely fallen in love with this beautiful song;

Walkenhorst & Porter (The Rainmakers) feat. Bjørnov - Stay Ahead of the Wolves
"Hun skal torpederes!" - Birger Eriksen

("She is to be torpedoed!")

NONE... enjoying "near" silence.
The hum of the computer fan.
The constant ringing in my ears.
The sound of tapping keys.
Those are the only things disturbing the silence.

I've had 'Seconds out' by Genesis on Youtube and going around in my head lately. My sister bought it in 1977 and I borrowed it so much that I might as well have stolen it off her. I've not listened to it in 30 years and I'd forgotten what a great album it is.

The march of time is cruel isn't?

Anyway, nice to see them together again - they have left us with some incredible music [&o].

Cover versions atm. Here is my top 5 :)

5. Over the hills and far away. I prefer Nightwish over Gary More

4. Sweet Dreams (are made of this). I prefer Marilyn Manson over Eurythmics

3. The man who sold the world. I prefer Nirvana over David Bowie

2. Running up that hill. I prefer Placebo over Kate Bush

1. Hurt. I MUCH prefer Johnny Cash over Nine Inch Nails

As the kind despot I am, I gave you the choice to listen to both versions, but I am, as always, correct [:D]

But what would happen if you thought you were wrong? If you're always correct, then that would lead to a contradiction...

- Don't know 5 + 3

- Only know the Johnny Cash version of 1

- You are quite wrong on 4 - the Emily Browning version from Sucker Punch knocks even the Eurythmics version into a cocked hat

- 100% agree on 2.

That never happens, since I know I am always correct, I never think I am wrong [;)]

[X(]
and yet you are in here thinking you may post about music? [:D]

Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nail) said after he heard the Johnny Cash version; "that song is not mine anymore".

Johnny Cash released that version on his final CD, "American IV", a CD that has ALOT of covers on it, and which was shortly before his death.

I think one of the best examples of a cover being better than the original - in fact two covers being better than the original is:

Where is my mind - The Pixies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufERJEdcfAY

But this is sooooo much better - same song by Sunday Girl

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgAItVzIN_4

And this is even better - same song by Yoav (featuring Emily Browning)

Then there are two by The Smiths:

Asleep

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy0NySCmuFU

Not a patch on the cover by Emily Browning

Also by The Smiths we have:

Please let me get what I want

Made so much better by The Dream Academy

We also have the wonderful Fleetwood Mac and:

Dreams

But The Corrs added something 'extra' to this great song, giving it a great Celtic feel
