Soviet Headquarters

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

Soviet Headquarters

Post by c00per »

I have no problem with the design of attrited and shattered armies not rebuilding divisions, but I find coming up with creative ways to execute the HQ so as to attach the remnants to another army or front a bit dumb. Why not allow us to just disband headquarter units, so we can reassign the remnant divisions to other HQ

Seems reasonable to me.

Hi c00per,

It's a deliberate design decision to have it this way.

STAVKA, for the majority of '41, was in crisis mode.

Reorganising HQ's and Divisions in a logical manner to optimise outcomes was, on the whole, beyond them. They had plenty of other, more pressing, issues to deal with.

Orphaned Divisions have a chance of being automatically reassigned and HQ's with no subordinates are similarly disbanded.

The game aims to provide two very different command experiences - one of being in charge of a well oiled military machine and the other of a struggling, unresponsive, behemoth.

Cheers,
Cameron

Well It is your creation and I understand your point of view. How about after the soviets play the card reorganize high command and say after 1942 you allow the soviet player to do this. Either way I will just keep leading the attack with HQ units as the remnant division run for the rear areas.

Couldn't we just reattach lone Divs at a cost in PPs? The Soviets used to rearrange their command structure ad hoc all the time.
