VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.
Determining when to rest and refit PGs would be greatly facilitated if the xx Panzergruppe HQ report would show the number of recoverable vehicles by division.
I'm asking for exactly the same info that's available by clicking on the individual panzer division reports, just copied into one convenient place.
would that specific knowledge be useful to the RL operational commander or would that info be handled by the Korps staff when flagging divisions as'in need for a refit' ? I like more info, but I am also wary to avoid turning DC:B into another game...so I always try to ask myself..would this specific report appear on Halder's pile?
Since the player can specify individual divisions in to refit he should have an idea of how many tanks are in the repair shop per unit. I had the same wish in my last game. I had two Pz divisions that were low in tanks. I had no idea if the losses were from combat or breakdowns. So I think this piece of info would be handy to have if its not too much to ask. As it turned out it was pretty much a waste of time refitting them. They got back 15 AFV between them IIRC.
I find the PZG report gives you good enough detail. It flags when a unit has excessive breakdowns, and if you want you can follow up on those divisions by going into their division-specific report.
I've pretty much stopped doing whole-of-PZG refits, in favour of more targeted refits on the divisions that really need it, thus keeping the rest of the PzG moving forward.
Of course, having a dynamic tooltip that would show the number in the PZG report would be better, but I can think of many dozens of things I'd rather have Cameron doing!
The game obviously tracks how many tanks can be repaired per division. Making that info available can't be too difficult. I don't understand why you would not want that considering you prefer to put units in to refit in an adhoc manner? Or is this info available already somewhere that I am unaware of?
It's already available in the status report for an individual division.
It would be better to have it also available in the PZG status report, but usually I find I can just rely on the B! or B!! flag in that report to let me know when a refit of a given panzer/PZG division would be useful. So I'm not fussed.
