There is some "foreshadowing" on the map. [:)]

Pretend I didn't read the manual and therefore don't yet "completely" understand the TF movement mechanics
and explain to any newer players what plot length the Arizona/Pennsylvania TF should take in order to arrive at Koumac after the sun comes up (to gain the gunnery advantage and perhaps stay away from the Rong Rance).

In other words, after a path length of 6 hexes with a remain on station order and the TF on "Bombardment"...are they going to show up 30 minutes before dawn or 30 minutes AFTER?

They are going to try to arrive at night so being one full speed turn's movement away they are SUPPOSED to automatically convert to a full speed run and arrive in the hex in the night phase.
Only way I know to force a day bombardment is to give a do not retire order and stick around for the day phase.
Not sure how to make them arrive in the day and not the night except perhaps a Cruise Speed order to prevent Mission Speed from automatically converting to Full Speed.

Right, that is also my "reading" of the manual which I did not read. [:)] They will definitely try to arrive at night if you set "Bombardment" and "Retire"...but I f we set "Do Not Retire" and a 7 hex path length are they going to show up during the day only?

This is almost as bad as Common Core fraction word problems.

My read on that is 7 hexes is one hex further than they can move in two movement phases at normal speed so they will either move full to a one hex range or move less than full to be three hexes away for a final run and would still arrive in the night phase two turns from now.
From 7 hexes out forcing a full speed order would have them arrive in the day phase after moving in 6 hexes in the night phase!

Right, so the ticket is 7 hex path, full speed, remain on station! [:)]

I don't think there is a magic ticket to do this. Please post the result.

Poor lass. By the way she is crossing her legs she must have to go really bad, but has to gamely pose for the boys lest their morale slip and allow the Japs to land on Oz ..... waaait a minute....

Don't you have to set max react to something other than zero?ORIGINAL: Cap Mandrake

A reaction could lead them away from the target or use up sufficient Ops points to prevent them from arriving on time.

HMmmm, got any more escorts? Even for a daylight duel those BB's wont be adequately screened.
By the way, I would set as a surface task force ,7 to 8 hexes away, set to retirement allowed and full speed.

That is a good point. It the WJD's surface force sticks around there won't be an opportunity for bombardment anyway. There is also a chance the retreating TF at Koumac will get shot up first because they will be slower than the incoming Jap TF. Can Nevada cover 1 hex before the WJD TF covers two? You would think so based on the ratio. Maybe we should set the Nevada force to "light speed" as well.
Maybe the best choice is to lay off for a day and send in the bombers?

RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo
Forget light speed. You need ....
