A couple of questions from a 40+ year grognard

Post by DaveyJJ »

Besides the other two questions I had, I have three more ...

1. Is it possible to create a line of 1 hex wide water hexes that represent something like a stream or very shallow river that is crossable by infantry and/or vehicles, at some sort of movement penalty? Or are all water hexes impassable except via bridge etc?

2. Rifle range. Given that most fire past 150 metres in WW2 against infantry in cover is not going to actually do anything more than put people's heads down (suppress) in real life, can you give me some idea of German/British squad rifle ranges in TotH in hexes, and what sort of chances you;d have of a single squad doing any damage at 6+ hexes against another infantry unit?

3. Walls? Hedges? Along the hex sides or not?

Been tactically wargaming since SL, and minis before that. Former ASL hard core player now Combat Commander and Band of Brothers. Also an OSX user hoping Wine or Parallels will run it. Very curious about the game.

Thanks.

1) water hex is impassable unless through bridge

2) weapons range is all abstracted

3) No walls and hedges support, perhaps in expansion

These are pretty important map features in SL and ASL, as you know. This is a pretty big bummer that they're not in this game.

There are lots of important features, I couldn't include every single one of them...

Very true. I would say terrain and cover like these are more importanter than others, though. Just my opinions, obviously, which I know are like a certain part of the human anatomy.
