Was the tanker loaded with fuel/oil? Pretty much guaranteed sinking if you ignite it.

She was an oiler and I put 2 torps into her. Didnt hear immediate sinking sounds but did hear them before the end of turn.

RE: Groundhog Day!
Yeah, I know it was an oiler but the loaded/not loaded makes a difference. Empty tankers can be pretty tough and one that large could survive two torps.ORIGINAL: Wargmr

Actually, it was a tanker. I said it was an oiler because it was carrying oil. Sorry for the unclear response.

Northern Russia July 1944
A large stack of troops is still moving west away from Boryza. I am surprised how far they have gotten and today was a great day but I am still skeptical that the stack can make it to safety.
The center of the lines have broken and 1900 AV of troops are moving west toward NJP's lines. He has just managed to break out troops and get them near to clearing the blocked rail lines and these guys are gonna screw it up again!!

RE: Groundhog Day!
NJP got a stack of units into the hex in front of the retreating stack but I managed to shock attack it and drive it off. Hopefully this is using up supplies and reinforcement troops that will be critical later.
3 tank units are heading in from the west and units are moving up from the southeast. I am still in a lot of danger of getting cut off.

I wish the Soviets were a different color.
But, but the Russians have more of a claim to Red than the Japanese, after all the Rising Sun is more often yellow than red whereas Red literally MEANS commie! [:D]

I wouldn't mind yellow, I think. Certainly every wargame usually goes yellow.
Wargamer, what kind of tanks are in your army that delivered that nice shock attack? T34s?

Here is a screenie of one of the Russian rocket units. I believe the "number of rockets" refers to the truck launchers, not the individual tubes. I think each Katyusha launcher carried something like 20 tubes.ORIGINAL: Lowpe

EDIT: Here is a quote from www.militaryhistorynow.com :
Originally designed as a cheap ad hoc alternative to conventional artillery, the truck-mounted 132-mm Katyusha launcher could fire as many as four-dozen warheads distances of more than six miles (9 km) in a single ten-second burst. While woefully inaccurate when compared to ordinary howitzers, concentrations of Katyushas could shower vast areas with a dense hail of high explosives and then speed to safety before enemy guns could even get a fix on them

I found some of them in the Guards Mortar Rgt. Most of the guns are howitzers and some assault tanks in there as well.

Singapore August 1944
He has quite a few units in the southern part of malaya near Singapore and it will take some time to defeat them. The northern area is a mop up right now.

I recently dropped paratroopers into Kwangchowan and Kingusan and am invading the Chinese mainland. Hong Kong is a big source of supply for him and I will need to reduce it shortly. Carriers finish upgrading in 2 days at Manila. Pescadores, Amoy and Swatow are lightly defended so I will likely assault these areas first then decide whether to take on Formosa or bypass it.
