What happened to my air kills?

Post by Kevin E. Duguay »

First turn 1941 scenario Finnish bombers strike the Leningrad Front air bases. The attack is extreamly effective as from what I could see up to 1200 Russian aircraft are said to have been destroyed. Other attacks along the entire front bring in kills of between 500 to 800 aircraft. Surely the Russians will be reeling from these losses! But at the end of the German first Game turn Russian losses totaled only 716 aircraft!

Durring the next two turns the Russian airforce did seem to evaporate into "thin air" so to speak, but it seems that the first turn kills were never credited to the Axis side. After three turns the Axis only had destroyed 1898 Russian aircraft.

As a test I tried the scenario as the Russians. On the first turn the Axis forces "wacked" 3752 Russian planes. After turn three that number increased to 6071.

Has anyone else had this happen?
Was it just a fluke?

I'm playing ver 3.3.

:(

Thank you!!:)

What happens is that the program counts damaged planes as destroyed during the game. In reality only a porcentage of them have been actually destroyed.

Also, when you overrun a HQ with planes, those planes are going to be listed as destroyed. However, the destroyed air units will reappear next turn with a certain number of planes.

Tried scenario again. This time the Axis destroyed 5479 aircraft on turn one. But another strange thing happened. The Finnish air force attacked the Leningrad airbases durring the combat phase destroying another 631 aircraft!(included in above total)

Whats up with that????

The overall combat report at the end of each turn only encompasses the losses during the combat resolution. Thus, the losses during the the player directed phase are not reflected, albeit irregularly. However, from my limited experiments, these airplane losses are certainly included in the overall game data. I would presume that the same would apply to tanks, infantry, and others as well.

Maybe, RickyB or someone else could confirm my observation.

If you save the game at any time after the air attacks but before combat resolution, the air kills will not show up in the stats.

But they would still be accounted for in the overall game data.

Maybe, someone is expecting us to complete each turn at one go!;)

I have just conducted another test. The air losses are certainly included in the game data, even if they are not saved in the overall combat report. I would presume that the same is true for tanks, guns, and infantry.
