decompression error has occurred (#2026)
I have installed WITW retail version successfully. But when I am updating the game with any version of patches, I hit many decompression error (#2026) and I skip all of them. It happens when I install the operation torch also. Can anyone help? Thanks!
RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
re down load the patch again as if you have any errors the file is corrupt and won't work
tm.asp?m=4018224
has some more info, what you need to do is run the file as admin and check your anti virus and firewall settings to make sure none are stopping it working and unpack.
any sort of scanner will do this so check all installed as file works 100% fine at this end, so the issue is on your pc with your setup, disable or give / add the file in question to the white or safe list to unpack, good luck

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
Are you updating the game from the Operation Torch disc?
RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
The error happens when I updating the game from Operation Torch disco plus any regular patches like 1.01.12.
I tried to run as admin and turn off anti virus but still the same. I am using Windows 10. Thanks!

Then please try the following:
1. Uninstall the game
2. Please make sure that there are no files/folders left in the folder where the game was previously installed
2. Reinstall War in the West
3. Download 1.01.12 Update from the link below
http://ftp.us.matrixgames.com/pub/WarIn ... v10112.zip
4. Unzip the downloaded file and run the extracted file to update the game
Have you received any compression errors or any other error at all?

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
No it still does not work.
And no I never received these errors before in other games. But there is a giant Win 10 updates earlier and it may be the reason. I will test for other games now. Thanks for the help!

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
There's a chance that your update file is getting corrupted everytime you download it.
Download a md5 checksum program:
http://www.winmd5.com/
Run the WinMD5 program and post the checksum value for the extracted file(WarInTheWest-UpdateComp-v10112).
I'll compare then and check if the file is corrupted.
I'm assuming that the issue is when updating and not when installing the original base game.

Yeah I install the base game without any problem.
I will try the winmd5 program later. will inform you the result. Thanks.

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
I got the checksum value of the patch.

And this is the value for the base game.

note that I do have physical disc for Operation torch and when I use the disc I still have the error for the earlier patch that comes with the DLC. That's why I show you the value of the base game since I install the base game through download the exe file. Thanks!

The checksum is correct.
Just got a little confused, when I have asked you to uninstall the game and to reinstall the base game and the downloaded patch 1.01.12, have you used the Operation Torch disc?
What I want to know is if the base game plus the downloaded patch 1.01.12 also have cause errors. I know that the base game doesn't...

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
For that one time you ask me, I uninstall the game, remove the game folder, reinstall the base game and then apply 1.01.12. I did not install the operation torch for that particular test.
So yes the base game plus 1.01.12 still gives me error.
Thanks.

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
Right.
When you install the patch 1.01.12, the errors you receive are also decompression errors (#2026)?

RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)

what anti virus do you use? is it a all in one with firewall and spyware program built in?
also what drive are you installing the base game to, default?
C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the West or elsewhere etc
have you checked your main drive or any drives for any errors?

What's your Windows language? Is it in English or is it, as I'm now beginning to suspect, in Chinese or Korean?
RE: decompression error has occurred (#2026)
For my windows,
In Control panel Region section, format is English (US), location is Canada
In Language section, setting is using English (US).
Do you mean that?
