Did both scenario's get updated in the 1.102 patch? Noticed a Japanese unit starts in George Town (allied controlled) in the Non-Active Soviet Scenario but, not in the Active Soviet scenario.

\

In the current update, Georgetown is clear of Japanese troops. Just checked....GP

I did a clean install but, I'm seeing some very strange stuff playing allies random Japanese units appearing at allied bases at locations at each start or after a turn or two,.
The french CV's Joffre, Painleve with no aircraft or air capacity?

I wonder if Extremely Variable Reinforcements 60 days is causing some of the weirdness I'm seeing?

I can now confirm the Extremely Variable Reinforcements 60 days - causes issues, Japanese units appearing at allied controlled bases.

Ran the following test 5 times for each scenario

Test:Scenario 71 and/or 72
Set: Extremely Variable Reinforcements 60 days

Start game: Head to Head Scenario 71 & 72

Look at map locations Rabaul, Tarawa, George town

Issue: Japanese units arriving at allied controlled base at start of game!!

4010 Rabaul Eng Bn has a delay of 411215 and has Rabaul at the arrival location shows up at game start.
4012 Tarawa Eng Bn same thing at Tarawa
4020 Malaya Eng Bn sam thing George Town

There maybe others the 60 days is variable.

Fix
Units (land,Sea,Air) should not have enemy bases as their arrival location for the first 61 days of the war! After that units should default to home base in the location is enemy controlled.

To start, the french CV's and 2 BB's at Tahiti have to go to a shipyard of the right size to have construction completed. The story is those 4 ships moved to Tahiti after the fall of France, uncompleted. The CV's air units will arrive at Tahiti later on. Same for the BB's patrol groups. Although the patrol group will show up on the BB's.

As far as the variable settings go, I have been testing with the 15 day setting and it works great. The 60 day may be a bug. The reason I say that is normally if a base is in enemy hands the unit should delay (see opps report) and possible show up at national base. The dutch are a good example. If you withdraw a dutch air unit, That unit will show up at Aden after the normal base is determined to be unavailable, or the dutch surrender. You may want to post in the tech forum for michaelm to look at. Include a save game and a screen shot if you can. He will have to DL Focus Pacific to test....GP

My game is in July '42 and has been running from start with 60 day variability on reinforcements.
Have seen no problems due to it, but have been playing Allied side.

The test I did, it happened on the first turn 2 out of 5 time with one scenario and 3 times out of 5 on the other, it's random because of the +/- 60 days. Maybe if it doesn't happen with the first couple of days it's fine?

Variable Reinforcements:
- Units are placed on the map day one, there are no checks for (enemy controlled hexes), games been that way from day one!

French Carriers:
- Sorry, never played the game in story mode before![:D]

There should be checks for enemy occupation. It's one of the game functions. I have seen many LCU delay because of enemy base occupation....GP

Para, AV Chandeleur ID 4264, Class 2613, Arrives with air units for its conversion. Problem is that when it arrives on june 15th 1942 it's to late to convert the ship to a CVE. I didn't check to see if there are any others. The only thing I can think of is change the class for the later models to Tangier II and set the conversion to sometime after 9/1942....GP

Don't the two French AVs have to wait until 3/43 for the conversion to CVE?

I know the one that starts at Kwangchowan does. Haven't looked closely at the other, but have it stationed at Noumea and will check it tonight.

I've been playing the Soviets Active version from initial beta release.

BTW, those air units aren't for the conversion, but for operating from the AV.

I've had both AVs flying both CAP and Naval attack missions for some time now.

Actually they are. The Tangier class AV converts to a CVE and appears with the aircraft it will use after conversion. There are a couple of ships that do this....GP

I have two current PBEMs going as the allies. One is in September of 42, and the other in late January of 42.

In both, I'm getting trounced pretty badly by the Japanese player, but overall they have been a lot of fun.

If you want my opponent's view of the battle so far for the one in 1/42, he has an AAR which can be found here.

OK, but those same squadrons are operating form the ships while it is in AV form. You don't have to wait for the ship to convert to CVE before being able to use the planes.

Didn't know that. But I have found that the AV's drop their aircraft after 1 turn in port.

Been keeping mine in TFs in the port hex with the planes aboard (these AVs have an aircraft capacity) and the planes have been flying.
