RE: Monthly Report
My fault. I get entangled in debugging and forget to do the monthly report. I just posted the February report - a week late.[:(]
===
My visit to my primary care physician today said all was well with my body. But they still haven't made a pill that will make me 26 years old again.[:@]
===
I will be traveling next month to New Zealand and Australia for 3 weeks. We leave on March 9th and get back at the end of March. This will be my first real vacation in about 12 years. [My days in a hospital bed don't count.] Our trip is a cruise, starting in Auckland, N. Z., and going down the southern coast of the north island and then around the southern island, across to Tasmania, and then up to Melbourne and Sydney. I visited NZ in ~2002 with my chorus but this will be the first time for my wife. Neither of us have been to Australia before. It's also the first time we were on a cruise.

Steve,
I see we are almost neighbors; I live in Kaimuki. My wife and I visited Wellington, NZ for my work (PACOM) this summer, and we are now seriously considering retiring in Wellington. It sounds like an amazing trip and it certainly seems you are due for a vacation. I expect that you will have an amazing experience, savor every moment.
Thanks for all your hard work on this amazing game,
Aloha and Mahalo,

Sounds like a great trip.
Australia is on my bucket list at some point. I have heard of nothing but good things there.

Enjoy your well deserved holidays, Steve!

RE: Monthly Report
While in Melbourne, if you want a free beer or 2 as a thank you for your efforts, I would be happy to oblige.
and yes Tasmania has some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Worth a visit to restore your soul. Should be on everyone's bucket list.
Especially Cradle Mountain/ Lake St. Clair.

I'll add my name to the list of people who would like to visit Australia and New Zealand. I've never even crossed the equator. Have fun, Steve.
There is no overkill. There is only "open fire" and "reloading."
RE: Monthly Report
Is the "Sentry" bug being fixed?
It's a bit harsh for whoever has convoys that units in Sentry do not drop down of box; and it's a hassle to manually command all the units to stay at sea (albeit doable)) so they drop one box down naturally.

RE: Monthly Report
I can't tell. There are no bugs with convoys on sentry that I know of. I don't use the sentry status for any other unit in the game, because I don't like that option...

It's not about convoys but other units that do not get down of 1 box at the end of the turn.
RE: Monthly Report
Steve, re your holiday. I assume if coming to Tasmania you will be docking in Hobart? If so, you'll be able to see why it's a major port in MWiF [:)] A deep water anchorage with lots of space.
You'll cruise up the estuary of the River Derwent past Alexandra Battery.
"A triangle of fortresses with the Queen's Battery at the Apex, and two new batteries, the Alexandra Battery, named for Princess Alexandra, the Princess of Wales, and the Kangaroo Battery on the eastern shore would be adequate for the task. Construction began on the new fortifications in 1880, and at the same time, a new permanent field artillery unit, the Southern Tasmanian Volunteer Artillery equipped with two breech-loading 12-pound howitzers and two 32-pound guns on field carriages, was raised."
This was all part of Hobart's coastal defences...

RE: Monthly Report
And you'll dock here. The weather is usually still good until about mid April, so unless you're unlucky, it should be warm and hopefully sunny.

RE: Monthly Report
I seem to be missing why you'd ever put units that move out to sea (other than CPs) on Sentry status? They will either RTB or abort before the end of the impulse, or they, on occasion, will move down one or more boxes, which would then involve the need to take them off sentry first.ORIGINAL: Cohen

To minimize convoy escort housekeeping chores, especially for the CW. Currently, if I want a convoy escort in the 1 box or higher to stay at sea, I have to select each such ship during the Stay at Sea phase. I think Cohen is saying the game should do a check during the Stay at Sea phase for non-cp ships that are on sentry status, and if such ships are in the 1 box or higher, they are moved down one box automatically without the player having to select each ship.

RE: Monthly Report
How sentry worked was that any non CP ship put in Sentry, and still at sea at the end of the turn; automatically was flagged to Stay at Sea and dropped down of 1 box (unless it was at the 0 box, in that case was forced to return to base; or it was loaded with a land / air unit).
That spared much time as CW, Japan and in general anyone wanting to have some units on Escort Duty moved them at sea, put them in Sentry, and they were good to go already without having to check sea by sea at the end of the turn. (And that was how it worked til 2 patches ago!)
Currently, a ship at the 4 sea box, placed in Sentry, at the end of the turn does not return to base AND stays at the 4 sea box - so it's already at the 4 sea box at the beginning of the next turn (which should not be happening).

So far I've spent 5 days trying to figure out why in NetPlay, the Creation of Vichy France causes the Axis computer to 'freeze'.[:@][:@][:@] Only the Selectable units box works - the rest of the forms (including the Main form) are completely unresponsive.

Thanks to you and hazmaxed for explaining this to me. Makes sense and eases something I'd always done manually - once it works again.ORIGINAL: Cohen
