But 2015 taught me to be careful what I ask for.
My rather massive collection of rather outstanding war games goes mostly unplayed because life is change. And it often refuses to change in a way we desire.
Blah blah blah. I once owned a beautiful largely 1st and 2nd edition ASL collection that wanted for nothing but the last module. But I got tired of listening to myself lie to myself about getting around to playing it. Even the best games can suck solo. So I sold it for what seemed like a rip off of a price. But I sold it to a buddy from my youth who was visiting from Texas. No shipping hassle and strangers sealed the deal.
To see a game looking to be a fairly close approximation to ASL is frankly surprising.
It might even cure me of my obsession with desiring a Steel Panthers reinvention.
I've always preferred squad tactical over higher echelon settings. No messy political angles for an AI to fail at. No wonky ahistorical craziness to deal with.
I'd like to see this one enter the market.
Of course you men will immediately be unhappy with everything and I predict a 3 year span of griping and complaining
But it's basically what I would like to see arrive. The graphics are nice, no counters always falling over and the best part in my opinion, I won't need a storage system to keep all the counters
I suppose now I might as well hope someone computerifies PanzerBlitz/Panzer Leader for me. It's the only remaining board game war game I'm not trying to get rid of somehow.
