Things are picking up in India. Supplies are getting better as over this week, about 500k have either unloaded or are within a few days of Karachi. Another convoy's loading up at Cape Town and probably another 4 are arriving from off-map. I'll just keep the carpet rolling.

Action is increasing near Ranchi. I have an armored unit on the run off the east flank and will reach the hex SE of Ranchi in the next day or two. Hopefully that opens the door for the troops there to escape. Both sides are bombing the jungles good now, too. I've been seeing him pull troops from elsewhere to feed into this. There's almost nobody at Vizagapatnam now -- about 600 troops and no planes. I'm working over the airfield there good with planes form Trincomalee.

Paras reached Cuttack, though this wasn't the pushover I was hoping for like the last landing a little north of there. A split 1/3 of a division was waiting there. The troops are stuck there now and can't escape. My other paras up north are committed to Ranchi, so I doubt they'd get there in time.

I have one para unit in reserve at Bezwada, a depleted LRRP unit. I'll probably drop them on Vizagapatnam, eventually.

Enroute to Karachi are some US troops I was going to send to Cape Town for Pearl, but changed my mind. One USA division and regiment plus some extras. I'll feed them into the Ranchi battle. Patna is becoming very useful as a target to rail troops to, as they can make just a quick march to the front.

I smacked a loaded tanker off the Malay coast, too.

I've been getting lots of intel yet of troops prepping for targets in Australia. I think I'm safe at this point.

I'm thinking about by B-29s at Ceylon. They mined Calcutta again last turn, but I think I'm running out of useful targets in this area. I can transfer them easily to Normanton in Australia and to wherever after that. I'm considering that move after the squadrons heal up. Since they arrived, I've added two losses to flak in addition to the prior 5 ops losses, so my pool is in good shape with them.

I don't mean to spam the stats like this, but I wanted to show a typical day there right now. I've taken some P-47 squadrons and are LRCAPping some of the hexes he's been hitting. Not mentioned were my raids at Vizagapatnam. (finally can spell that without thinking) The airfield there is at least 87% damaged, so the bombers are moving over to hitting troops there now.

Supply is rolling into India, and most of the exclamation points are gone now. Lots more is inbound. Colombo is also unloading a big convoy, too.

KS has quit bombing Gardner's mob in the east. They'll be going to Rangpur, as he seems to have taken it back since I was there before.

My paras at Cuttack are getting attacked now. They're most likely toast. Win one, lose one, I guess. Vizagapatam's intel now shows 5 units totaling about 6,500 troops.

More subs departed Colombo for the Calcutta/Malaya gap. It's literally a carpet there right now.

More transports arrived at Cape Town. One day to repair, and another convoy will set sail. Keep 'em coming.

I've been bringing in more troops from India via Cape Town.

I'm going to review unit prep for the Marshalls kickoff. I want to make sure it's balanced, as I've just been stuffing units with destinations. If I have enough ground units, I'll probably add a fifth landing site with this. At this point, I can supply each landing with at least 6 CVE, all Hellcat equipped. F6F pool has been in the 670 range, despite flipping two more jeep carriers over to them. I have plenty of DE/PFs to keep a dedicated ASW group with each landing.

This should free up the fleet carriers for a more aggressive roving defense. Keep them more on a hunter-killer role.

I'm anticipating mid-August at this point to kick this off. One fleet carrier may be left behind, as one of the inbound ships has a good chunk of sys damage on it -- about 40. She can still make 28 kts. Not sure if she'll heal up in time.

I'm anticipating mid-August at this point to kick this off.

I'm going to be honest with you, if I were FDR and Nimitz told me this I would be absolutely furious. You could have finalized your invasion plans long ago such that when your ships arrived in Pearl Harbor you would be ready to kick it off. Instead, you're going to have to wait months for your troops to get prepped again for their landings. There were already concerns raised about hitting the Marshalls so late in 44 and now it's even being pushed back further. Frankly I'm not sure why you didn't just island hop from the Gilberts up through the Marshalls after you took Tarawa. All indications point to the Japanese putting up a token defense in the Marshalls. A long delay to build up for a massive push with up to 5 simultaneous landings is not a resource efficient way of dealing with token defenses.

Also, I disagree with the notion that invasion forces should be balanced. Instead, you should investigate what is defending each island and allocate sufficient resources for each target.

I'm probably being quite deliberate with this. I've been making the effort to ensure troops are prepped enough for these landings, as I've had losses exceeding 1,000 on some of these before, which may have made a difference between winning and losing. On top of that, I have no clue if he's willing to commit KB to defending the Marshalls. Right now, I have 5 fleet carriers, 4 light carriers, and around 30 escort carriers at or closely enroute to Pearl. Leaving Panama, I can add another 4 CVs, 3 CVLs and 1 more CVE to the mix. I think I can handle pretty much anything with that group. With all the CVEs present, I can afford to go hunting with the fleet ships. I'm content to wait two months. I may be able to start this in 4-6 weeks the way it's setting up. I'm adding Eniwetok to the landing list also. I will also pre-position subs to the area to rescue pilots that may go down.

Going with the above and taking inventory, I've discovered that the troops from the failed the Calcutta invasion had already re-spawned at Pearl. I thought I'd have to physically re-activate them. They, plus a few extra full strength units are already prepping for Guam and Tinian in the Marianas. If/when the Marshalls fall, I intend to move quickly on the Marianas -- maybe bag Truk in the bargain. Don't worry, once this kicks off, it'll be a freight train at full tilt. That's also why I'm planning on moving the Superfortresses to Australia once they're healed up.

India's become a bit of a chess match lately. He'll bomb some troops and then I react with LRCAP, to find them not showing again. Fortunately, I have plenty of P-47 squadrons to play this game. Frances bombers started hitting my flanking Indian armored unit, so two Jug squadrons will start covering. I'll rotate more in later. I can only LRCAP for about two days before fatigue catches up. The USA 41st Infantry Division and 102nd Infantry Rgt have unloaded at Karachi and are railing to Patna. They'll be heavy hitters entering the scene. More unused bombers are hitting troops also, while I rest the ones who have been bombing lately. Supply is now good throughout all India. More is incoming, as I'm keeping that moving. Ceylon's in excellent shape also, supply-wise.

More troops show up in the US. The 81st Infantry Division and two armored battalions, loaded with Shermans. They're prepping for Guam and Tinian in the Marianas.

All the warships that arrived in Panama are headed for the map. I broke them up dependent on cruise speed. The carriers should be on-map in 9 days. Victorious is a day out from Pearl.

I sent A-20s and Mosquitos to attack troops north of Ranchi. They got beat up a bit, due to their doctrine of strafing as well as bombing. Nobody attacked my roving flanking armored unit. I'll keep rotating LRCAP over them. Between there and Cuttack, I've really stirred the pot in that part of the map. My new US troops are probably 5 days from Patna, assuming 10 hexes per day on the tracks. Two Brigades reached a single IJA unit on the west flank and are attacking. Hopefully, I win. It's a very dynamic front and I have to watch everything closely. I have a squadron of O-47s set to Commander's discretion, so hopefully they spot any new troops arriving.

B-29s are slowly healing. When they get to Oz, I may raid Rabaul's port. Catching KB there would be a stroke of luck.

Saipan is usually a lot tougher fight than Tinian, thanks to its naval fort. Tanks would be of more use there than Tinian (unless you already have plenty!).

Once done with the Marshalls, I'll have plenty -- at least 5 battalions. Tinian stood out to me because of its airbase expandability. Bombing the HI would be nice at this point.

A side note regarding supply. Near Pago Pago, Upolu appears to be a supply sink almost as bad as Coal Harbor. I'm having to constantly run cargo shipping there to keep them up. If it wasn't for that perma-restricted Canadian unit, I'd have dumped Coal Harbor long ago. I'm tempted to move everyone there out.

Currently, Pago-Pago, Upolu, Savaii, Ta'u, Niue and Vava'u are all occupied with lots of airplanes. As I run through the Marshalls and move westward, I'll be gradually taking planes and units out of here. I already have a convoy headed to New Zealand to get the American planes out. Despite continuing warnings about units prepping for Australia, I think that threat has come and gone. I have too many planes to face such an event.

One USMC regiment I had in Australia shipped out about a week ago, bound for Pearl to reunite with their two sister regiments. I'll probably be assigning them to another Marianas target. I hadn't looked, but I'm hoping Guam has a decent stacking size so I can stage the next move from there.

I've had recon on Roi-Namur and Kwajalein going on for quite a while. I flew this out of Makin. I tend to not trust the fighter/bomber counts, but fighters were consistently sitting at zero, so I took a chance. The B-25s originally came from the Samoa area. Once the Gilberts build up a bit, I'll start moving in the B-24 squadrons I have from down south. With external fuel, I can probably ferry just about anything up that far.

Once my B-29s get healed up and collected, I'll probably do the same to Rabaul and maybe Noumea. Anything to tie up his fighter units.

I never thought I'd do it...

It looks like I managed to run Cape Town out of supply. The dreaded exclamation point showed up and that base has about 2,500 left. The convoy loading up is now unloading. I'm working on shifting transports to England. East US only has about 150,000, so that won't work as a source. That's what happens if you don't pay attention. There's still probably about 400k enroute to Karachi, so India will probably keep for now.

I had similar results last turn, so they're dying quickly. I'm dropping my last full strength para unit at Bezwada on them next turn. Just one unit, with every squadron participating. I think this base will fall quickly.

Up at Ranchi, KS takes another shot at my surrounded troops. They only get 1-2 on them and the Japanese take heavy losses. My flanking armor is nearing the SE hex, so hopefully relief will come soon. On the west side of the base, I've been getting the upper hand. The two American units reached Patna and are now enroute to the west side also. Hopefully I can collapse that whole side. The north and east are stalemated for now. The armor and my two paras are approaching from the south, so it's getting real interesting up there.

In the States, I can look forward to a dozen B-29 units showing up on the East Coast in the next month.. I'll probably push them to Pearl.

Heavy airstrikes before the ground attack were killing lots of vehicles, which I think helped a lot

Air that was bombing here is being re-tasked to Cuttack. I'm actually slightly ahead in AV there right now, so maybe I can still push that one through. The whole Baker Island experience taught me to never write anyone off.

Invasion troops are loading up at Pearl. Due to transport constraints, I can only load up for four invasions: Kwajalein, Roi-Namur, Maloelap and Eniwetok. I think Maloelap and Roi-Namur will have Amphib Force HQs supervising the landings. I've labelled all the task forces so I don't forget and they currently are only transports. When they kick off, I'll put the accompanying warships in place. I'll have 7-8 CVEs with each group, so by themselves will have a respectable CAP in the air.

I almost feel like I'm on a runaway rail car at this point.
