Morale Loss

Post by Powloon »

I'm playing the AI as the axis under version 1.08.07. On turn 3 I noticed for some reason that all my starting infantry divisions with a morale of 90 had been reduced to 89. None of them had any defeats against their name or were out of supply.

Is this just a case where high morale decays away if you are a certain threshold over the national morale (if it is what is the threshold for when this occurs?)

Yes, it decays due to fatigue, not enough supply or just because it's way too high over NM.

It was only turn 3 so I'm fairly sure it wasn't fatigue or supply.

Is there an increasing chance of losing morale the higher you are above national morale or is there a set threshold which you pass where there is a chance that your morale decreases eg does the check only occur if you are say 15 points over the NM level

It's increasing with every point above NM.

Anyway, if you moved those units they sure had some fatigue. Fatigue + morale higher than NM leads to morale decrease as well. Also, on turn 3 comes the first need to resupply and when units move into Russia they don't get 100% of needs due to Axis rail modifier (and other modifiers as well). Less than 100% of needs + morale higher than NM leads to morale decrease as well.

So this could be any (or all) of the three tests.
