New (Different) Maps

Post by RobertMc »

Seems to me that in time we can figure out how to make snow maps and desert maps. The terrain file is pretty straight-forward and fairly simple to negotiate. Changing the terrain "look" would mean having several different terrain.png files that you could swap in and out. It would be some work, but nothing too difficult if you really wanted at least the "atmosphere" of snow or desert.

I'm really enjoying this game so far. My feeling is that it will only get better with time and if we game-players get behind it in a big way I think Matrix might put more resources behind it to help make it a tremendous classic. Not saying that Peter hasn't already done a great job, but I recognize that he's a one-man development "team" and his time and resources are limited. Having said that...thank you Peter for putting in the time and effort to do this...!

I agree RobertMC. There is a ton of potential here, and what's already available is enough to keep me in grins for a long time. I had missed being able to play SPWAW (but no longer!), and I think that this one will see a similarly huge range of mods and scenarios. Man, I wanna see some PTO stuff...

I think people have to bear in mind that software *can* evolve. Things can be added, tweaked and improved upon. Like you said, if people get behind this, we'll be playing this one for a long, long time, and see many version iterations to come.

I don't plan to work on any other game except Tigers on the Hunt - this is my long term goal, of course it depends on how well the game will do on the market. Otherwise, I'm keeping new features to myself :)
