Here is what I can remember.

SB has the better UI, Not nearly so much clicking going on. If I remember correctly it also shows possible movement paths before you move units and it does show line of sight. In addition it has PBEM and online play.

TotH has a FULL map and scenario editor in which it is possible to create just about anything and it covers the whole war in Europe for the US, UK, Germany, and Russia out of the box, lots of game for the money there. Another plus for TotH is really long scenarios are possible - and the combat routines make more sense, in SB a tank loses penetration power after each shot to model fatigue or something - I think that is screwy...

If TotH gets SOME kind of online play I'd recommend it without reservation as my favorite tactical sim on the PC, UI warts and all. Maybe we can get the online bits in a follow up title adding in the Pacific or the Desert?

EDIT - One more item in SB's favor is the combat routines are written down in the documentation, even when I don't agree with them (see the tank issue above) I still consider that a plus.

Ive got both games, I havnt played loads of either, but I love the ASL boardgame so with the VASL mod I would choose TotH just for that, TotH seems to like a smaller zone of play with less units involved, but you can have bigger maps.
