Overloading Carriers

Post by SoulBlazer »

I never really DO this, so I want to make sure I understand the manual correctly:

Carriers can still do all of their flight operations as long as you don't go over their rated aircraft load by 10 percent, right?

For example, the Shokaku class is rated at 72 aircraft. 10 percent of 72 is 7.2, and rounding that you have 7. Added to 72, and it sounds like as long as you don't have more then 79 planes on the carriers, they can still launch all their planes, correct?

Is the round always down? Even if its .6 or higher?

Also, is there is a operation limit to squadrons for carriers? No more then five groups?

Not sure about the rounding, but it's not something that one tests in combat due to the obvious total loss if you are wrong by 1 plane that happens to come from the replacement pool.

Here's every CV rule I am aware of:

CV Air use:

CV = 110% of load (will fly all missions)
CV = 5 airgroups max
CV = 200% of load (air transfer missions only)

CV Endurance(Fuel) use:

Number of Hexes travelled x 30 if cruise speed
Additional 180 per hex if greater then cruise speed.
Staying in a Hex = Cruise Speed (Hex) x 30 (actually better fuel use moving 1 hex only instead of staying in a hex)
(tradeoff here is SYS damage possibility for moving the hex)
Each plane launched on strike: 1
Each 3 planes launched on CAP/Search: 1
Each plane attacking CV or ships in CV TF: 1
Surface Combat: 200

CV Rules:

No Fuel, no aircraft can fly.
Located in base hex, air missions reduced 50% strength.
LRCAP over CV very ineffective.
Emergency divert will fill CV to 110% from other CV. Other air will crash or land at nearby base (moral here, don't get in battles outside of range of a base to land at in case)
Replacement aircraft only available when docked.
CV damage exceeding 50% damage, no flight possible (see divert)
Damage causing a detach from TF will always add some form of ASW ship to ride shotgun.
CV damage exceeding 50% damage, no replacement aircraft
Detection Level (DL) automatically set to 1 when launching attach (never did like this one as there is never a suprise this way).

Thanks for good systematization of CV rules, Mr.Frag.
