Looking good! Japan uses 2 points to decrease damage and 6 points to increase damage.
If I'm right Japan takes 2A (1st to 6 def CA and 2nd to 7 def CA) and CW takes X D 2A.
Edit: Japan stays for more.

If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.

Doesn't look like there will be more left to stay for [:(].

Japanese minor inconveniences (losses would be a far too strong and inappropriate word).

Aborted ship to Kuala Lumpur, thank you.

However, the Allies don't suffer as much as they were fearing.
I didn't use the online die roller for the 2A's as with only 1 ship to apply them to, it wouldn't have mattered what was rolled, it was going to be aborted.

The Allied ships limp back to Aden.
The Japanese CA sails for Kuala Lumpur but must first pass through the Bay of Bengal. Do the Allies try and intercept? It could expose the CP to risk and with the Jap Nav just itching to stick its oar in, a surface combat wouldn't be guaranteed.
They decide to go for it.
On yet another 10, the woeful Allied search results continue.
Time to see if, unlike the CW, the US have learnt how to take the lens caps of their binoculars.
Bering Sea: Searches Allied 6, Axis 9. NE - apparently not yet.
Mendochino: Declined
Carion: Declined
Polynesia: Declined
Anywhere the Axis might want to have a dabble?

Bay of Biscay: Yes please, no planes needed.
Also yes to Polynesia. Sub joins the combat.
What do Allies have in Clarion?

And surprise, surprise, the woeful Allied search results continue while the Axis succeed.
I assumed the Axis would choose box-0 only and spend 4 of their 8 surprise points to force sub combat. How about the remainder?

You guessed right on money.
Remaining 4 points to decrease Axis damage to NE. Axis stay for more.

One of the following options have to be true:
A) Axis are lucky.
B) Allied sailors have poor quality and skills.

2 CP's begin the journey to Davy Jones.
Round 2: Searches Axis 8, Allied 7 end proceedings.
Did the Japs want a go in Clarion or Polynesia?

Clarion: Searches Axis 8, Allied 2 (nearly but not quite). NE.
Polynesia: Allies fly a Ftr to the 0-box. I presume Axis will commit their sub. Searches Axis 3, Allied 1. Allies choose Naval Air Combat. NE.
Round 2: Searches Axis 8, Allies 3. NE.
RAF launches bombing raids on Cologne (escorted by 6-point Mossie), Rome and Taranto. Germany can intercept Cologne with a 5-point Me-109. Is it a Gruppen scramble?

The air-combat is brief but the Mossies have done their job.

Soviets send 2 Lnd to ground-strike von Bock.
Not to be out-done by their comrades in the RAF, the TB-7's put a couple in the pickle barrel.
