Map Editor Road Hex index

Post by Krys »

There are so many excellent road hex possibilities I found it challenging to always be able to quickly put my finger (or cursor) on the one I needed, so I made this guide for quick reference.

It's not super professional, but it seems to work fairly well and definitely helps me, so I thought I'd share it in case others are having the same issues that I did.

(I think it looks better on a black background, but when I went to print it I realized it was a pretty silly waste of black ink, so made the 'on white' version for those who want a printed copy.)

Great tool! Hate to ask: how about buildings .... [:)]? and terrain?

Hey, Dietrich - been thinking about the buildings - that would be really helpful for sure. But there are a LOT of freaking buildings (115 stone and 110 or so wood, not counting that some are 2-3 hexes in size) and it's not as critical as the roads since buildings are purely appearance; still I've been thinking about those.

As for terrain, I don't think I'll worry about that. It's mostly self-explanatory I think, particularly if you use Peter's terrain mod - makes the elevations of the terrain much easier to distinguish.

But buildings....their time may come. [;)]

Thanks for all your work on the road hex index. Very helpful! I second the request for buildings.

While you do get a little preview image of this in the Object panel within the Editor this is the sort of thing that would have been a great appendix to the manual.

I'm hoping that snow textures will be possible for making winter battle maps

I'd agree with the desire for snow maps. Also might be nice to get sand and rocks for desert scenarios, and to put beaches near the water hexes. Oh, and how about jungle terrain and Japanese units so we can do the War in the Pacific...
