Fired THROUGH a building bug
While playing 001 - With a Little Help from the StuGs, during the GE movement segment the AI fired the RU 8-0 leader stack THROUGH the intervening building hex at my GE 9-1 leader stack beyond! I checked with the LOS tool and it said there was an LOS, but is clear there should not be. This is what the Action Log Window contained:-
==================================================== FIRE ==================================================
Source HEX: [ 9, 28 ] >>> FIRE VS >>> Target HEX: [ 11, 28 ]
[RU] LEADER: Sergeant C ID#: 13
[RU] SQUAD: 1st Line ID#: 9
[RU] SQUAD: 1st Line ID#: 8
I have attached a photo of the screen, I also saved the game.

RE: Fired THROUGH a building bug
Hi drnick,
I can't duplicate this issue on my computer, I have a feeling the LOS image failed for whatever reason to be created. I suggest, updating your video card drivers. Also can you please post the saved game file ? Also try rebooting your computer and then please check again.
Thanks

Peter,
A restart didn't make any difference. I already had the latest drivers installed, nevertheless I have reinstalled them but the problem persists, whether I load the saved game or start a new one the LOS tool still tells me there is an LOS.

I have checked the saved game file and, there is NO LOS betweem the two hexes; so something is not right on your computer. Please see the picture, I still think it's the video card/video driver issue but it's hard to confirm.

Ok, in that case I will have to ask my son for help, fortunately he is professional games programmer [:)].
I am running Windows 10 (DirectX 12) on an Intel i3-4330 with the integrated HD Graphics 4600.

Hi Jorgen,
There is nothing to correct here, it's the user's machine issue...
RE: Fired THROUGH a building bug
I too have noticed unrealistic and illogical LOS results. For instance in " with a little help from the stugs " one unit clearly fires through a stone building at another.
I find generally that terrain elements do not always affect LOS in a way that would be expected.

Ohh the spelling error could be corrected in the scenario description file.[;)]

Peter is correct, this is caused by a bug in the Advanced Squad Leader counter mod you're using. That front part of the building in hext 10,28 has an incorrect alpha mask in the terrain.png file which is causing LOS to trace through it.

Note the alpha mask for the 2nd building there is blue instead of white.

Thank you for the clarification. That makes sense and explains my experience with that stone building. However that is not a computer problem it is a mod problem.

My version of the ASL mod terrain file, does not have that problem. Note the Masks (the black & white image you are talking about) has to use only two colours, WHITE RGB(255,255,255) and BLACK RGB(0,0,0) otherwise the LOS won't work. For the masks, there is no alpha transparency...please keep this in mind.

Thanks for the clarification.

Updated 3/6/16 per a mask error on my part. Sorry.

Hi John & Ed,
Thank you. I am happy to report that I have just replaced the ASL Mod file with new one and the LOS is now correct. I am relieved there is nothing wrong with my computer after all. [:D]

No need to be sorry, because " your mods rock!! " ( even with 1 very minor oversight )
RE: Fired THROUGH a building bug
it's kind of a pain with everything in one graphic file, so easy to mess up the alpha channel and screwing up the whole deal. Thankfully I make many backups of my backups.
RE: Fired THROUGH a building bug
yeah no need to be sorry at all.
Thanks for the mods!
