Releases / Patch nooob question

Post by Andreazzok »

Hi all you guys,
sorry for the really dumb question but i've been wondering if there is a specific order in which to apply the patches/release.

More specifically, i've originally bought and downloaded CMANO v.1.02, then i quit for quite a while. Now i wish to play again, and with an updated version of the game. I've downloaded again my 1.02 copy from "my products" section on matrix site, then selected the "check for updates" option on the start up menu. Unfortunately, the connection with the server failed twice in a row, while downloading the 1.09 version it seems. Now, i will gladly skip the auto update and download the stand alone update patches, but what versions should i install? The matrix site will make me download the 1.05 WOTY, but the newest seems to be the 1.09.

Can i go straight and download and update from the 1.02 to the 1.09, skipping the 1.05? Will the 1.09 contains all the scenarios/tuts and improvements contained into the previews versions?

Thanks for the help!

Honestly, I would recommend registering your serial to get a Steam key, and then just download CMANO via Steam. It will automatically download the latest version (v1.10) all in one download, and will easily automatically update when a new patch is released.

It wont cost you any money to do this, I promise. Getting a Steam account is 100% free, and you would be able to use the new Steam Workshop integration for user-made scenarios.

Here is the information on how to do this:

tm.asp?m=3702673

This is what I did, I got a boxed copy of CMANO for Xmas 2014, and initially I installed that then did the auto update, but then remembered I could do it via steam.

It makes the process much simpler and more straight forward. And in one sense it would be virtually the same for you since you own a download copy anyway.

Try 1.02, 1.05, 1.09, then 1.10, which is the latest. Not sure but there might be a 1.08 needed before 1.09. I just did a reinstall working with a Matrix HelpDesk ticket, and they gave me a link directly to a full 1.09 version. I then went straight to 1.10. Not sure if I'm supposed to share that link.

In any event, you may need to do the manual download for the earlier versions. Also, make sure each installation goes to the same directory. One of my versions "defaulted" to a different directory.

I recently had to reinstall CMANO. I started with the CommandMANO-CommandNI-SetupRelease-v109 and then moved up to v1.10. You should be able to find it in this thread v1.09

I had the original CMANO and when I updated to the WOTY it created a second directory which had confused the updaters ever since. So I had to do a clean reinstall to get everytihng right. [8D]

Thanks for all the support guys.
As you said, the folders are now duplicated (a CMANO WOTY has spawned) and another executable shortcut has appeared on desktop, completely separated from the 1.02. Meh.
The games looks ok anyway (launching the 1.09 exe), i can see a lot of new features and scenarios. I'm now wondering if i can remove the 1.02 completely at this point.

For HalfLifeExpert: yep, Steam seems a reasonable solution, if i can't get my stuff straight i'll go for it, thanks.

Haven't tried Steam yet due to a very slow internet connection. However as I type the pavement outside my house is being dug up for fibre...

Steam question - Can i register my existing copy of Command with Steam? Also, can I just buy the Northern Inferno scenarios as an add-on?

If you are running a 64bit Windows version, uninstall and delete all your CMANO folders and follow the procedures described on this post:

Register your CMANO serial number in your Slitherine account and redeem a Steam key. You can then activate the game in your Steam account.

Activate the key of Northern Inferno in your Steam account and it will add to your Steam CMANO game as an addon.

If you already own a download copy of CMANO, you would still be fine with Steam. Steam does not require a good internet connection, just a connection to create account and download the game and patches, just as you would have done with Matrix, but Steam makes the process more straight forward. you can play just fine without internet.
