First Day of Borodino Field Tips?

Post by DingBat »

Hi all,

Has anyone tried this scenario?

It's been a while since I played ASL, so I'm still knocking the rust off. I've mostly managed draws and minor victories in the other scenarios I've played, so while I need work it's not a complete disaster.

But this scenario....

I just quit this one a few minutes ago. This is the first time I felt like I had the **** shot out of me by the AI. I thought it might be that I needed to adjust the scenario setup but this doesn't seem possible. Anyway, in the end, the AI easily broke my units with long range mg, mortar, and arty fire. About the only thing I can think of is to just slide my units up the side of the board until I can overwhelm a flank, but I doubt I have enough time.

Any tips?

Sorry I have not played it but I am wondering if you can concentrate all that MG firepower on the 2 central VLs? Also the Pz IVD should have Smoke so maybe smoke the MTR.

Advance one unit/hex but this is not so great yet as there are no multi-hex firegroups.

The 3-point VL looks too hard to go after but the other three look possible
