Lots of action in the air over China. The Empire ambushed our fighters attacking troops in the north for about 3 to 1 in their favor, and some Helen raids tried to strike our troops bearing down on Wuchow. Those raids ended very badly for them. The crossing into Wuchow will be tomorrow. East of Nanning our armoured unit has caught 4x enemy units and will attack tomorrow, but there are good chances the 10,500 of them will slip across the river into Liuchow and join the 51,000 troops there. despite the numbers, I am confident that the clear terrain at Liuchow will allow us to break into it quickly with air support. BTW, in addition to industry captured, Nanning is back to giving us 20 daily supply.

Kuala Lumpur is ours.

CA Northhamptom was our only loss. Three CVE are heading back to Pearl Harbor for repairs. Two CVE TF are retiring to Guam to rearm so that sorties are high during the upcoming invasion of Amami Oshima. The other two CVE TF are puling back 1 hex to join the fleet CV TF there, just SW of Tokunoshima. Several cruisers and destroyers were beat up and will head back for repairs. As mentioned previously a number of those cruisers already needed attention.

Tokunoshima now sports a size 1 airfield and has taken two squadrons of P-47D25 from Daito Shoto. The naval construction regiments unloaded completely but the base force convoy was chased away (although not caught!) and must now return to finish depositing troops and equipment.

AV at Naha is 2,002 and the next assault will be tomorrow. Last night included the Iowas bombarding and they will do so again tonight provided they can get there due to ops points. The 4x North Dakota/South Carolina class fast BB on station SW of Tokunoshima will also bombard. And of course, everyone else available.

Mainly along the coastal areas, as planned. Definitely an eye toward Shanghai. Bases will be built as needed.

The immediate move on Nanning was mostly opportunistic. The main spearhead is following the main plan. The forces that pushed on Nanning and are Pushing on Liuchow are doing so largely in support of that operation. Note that without the success of the bypass movement through the woods in front of Wuchow, the defenses at and around Nanning would not have been weakened. At Kweilin and Kukong we might see the same thing.

As the various British Army, et al units engaged on the Malay Peninsula become free that will impact plans too.

The armor at Wuchow, except for a garrison, is moving to pursue at full speed. The 4EB remain assigned to hit now ex-defenders of Wuchow, unprotected in the open. It looks like one IJA unit exited the city before the attack as 6 units and > 20,000 troops were expected. The infantry is still a few days behind. East of Nanning the armoured attack did well and tomorrow they will rest while the main column attacks (some artillery units did not make it yet). Samah is about to fall. The zombies near Lao Cai are cracking.

Temuloh in Malaya will be assaulted tomorrow.

Batavia has built to size 5 airfield.

The column is now moving to cross the river in formation, which will take 3 or 4 days; now 66,000 troops at Liuchow and they are heading east into the Woods-Rough terrain south of Kweilin. Over near Wuchow the armored column will catch the ex-defenders tomorrow, or probably all of them will. Over 1,200 casualties inflicted from the air on that retreating mob today. Our troops at Samah hardly realize they are in combat and will just continue attacking. In the mountains supply for attacks is hard to come by, and SE of Kunming the enemy has broken contact and must be pursued.

The Temuloh roadblock is brushed aside.

It's good to have these IJN assets expended before the Amami Oshima invasion, which is even a little closer to the Home Islands.

The troops at Naha could attack tomorrow - with maximum disruption at 10% and AV at 1,889 - but will wait one more day to ensure maximum naval bombardment resources are in place. All the battleships are being held short of the island to recover ops points for the following day. Only cruisers will bombard tonight. The bombardments today were better than average, which I attribute to the fortifications being now reduced all the way to level 3.

I will strongly consider ordering a shock attack for that next assault. What mitigates against it is the number and effectiveness of the guns the defenders have. They get two shots at the assaulters during a shock attack (instead of one), and with the guns they have in place it is just possible that a shock attack could under-perform a deliberate attack.

The last of the troops for Amami Oshima are now loading.
