[FIXED B803 + ANSWERED] A couple of a/c questions

Post by JPFisher55 »

I have a couple of questions about aircraft performance in 1.11 RC1.

1. What does attack speed mean? I have noticed that when my a/c take "offensive engagement" they use the speed that they determine which is sometimes afterburner which sometimes cause them to run out of fuel before reaching target. I tried setting the attack speed to full or cruise, but this did not affect the a/c once they went into the offensive engaged mode.

2. Are a/c supposed to RTB on afterburner instead of full speed if they have some fuel above the bingo setting? I thought that it would be afterburner in 1.11, but it still seems to be full.

I don't think either represents a bug just a feature question. Otherwise, v1.11 performs great.

Yeah setting the Attack throttle and altitude will override the built-in AI logics. If this is not working as intended in a scenario then there is probably an edge case we haven't taken into account. The code has a million logical paths and it is easy to miss one or two on v1.11 hehe. Or another fix somehow broke this func.

Please post a savegame for investigation.

Ah yeah they use full speed [8D] Was so much back-and-forth on this that I don't remember the end result haha.

I actually have a question about attack distance. I figured that it would be the distance from the target where the attack altitude and speed would be transitioned to, or something like that, but couldn't quite confirm it at the time. Is this correct?
I hope I'm not missing documentation on the new patrol editor options. Couldn't find anything in the warfare sims posts.

I'll post a saved game of an a/c using afterburner to attack when the patrol attack speed is set to full.

I would prefer afterburner for default RTB speed because it increases survival of RTBing a/c even though a/c can only use it for a short time.
I thought this was the end result of the previous discussion on this issue and would appear in 1.11.

Otherwise, I really like 1.11.

I attach saved game file in which Group2468 is attacking at afterburner speed. Yet, its patrol "thuleaawgen" has its attack speed set to full.
