Batavia airfield is size 6 + 97%. The B-24 should require a size 5 field to carry a full load, so the strikes on Singapore port will begin tomorrow. Simultaneously, dive bombers will begin hitting the ports at Batu Pahat and Bengkalis, while attack bombers hit the port at Palembang. Those are the only ports known to have ships anchored. Additional B-24 will attack Singapore port at long range from Soerabaja.

The cruiser bombardments of the defenses at Naha went well, but sea traffic control at night might have been lacking.

Who are those guys?! A number of cruiser and destroyer covering task forces are being rearranged although the carriers were already covered. The battleships will all head to Naha to bombard tonight in aid of tomorrow's ground assault. The cruisers that bombarded last night have high ops point usage (most at 450) and so will wait this one out, instead deploying to the hex where the IJN DD TF has located some of our carriers.

Two fleet CV and one CVE TF have replenished and taken on replacement airplanes and pilots at Guam. They will head out immediately for Daito Shoto, while the other CVE TF will make Guam this evening. The Amami Oshima invasion convoys will rendezvous tomorrow 3 hexes west of Pagan and then head for Daito Shoto.

Naha 'could' fall this time. Forts are at level 3 and I ordered a deliberate attack, which means a likely reduction to forts 2 that would require 4 to 1 odds or better to capture the base. Possible but I sure can't predict how likely.

Last time the odds were 3 to 1 but pretty close to 4 to 1. All the bombardments and air strikes went in with the forts at 4 versus only forts 3 this time. Aside from the prodigious chance elements in this game a fly in the ointment is that stupid IJN DD TF sitting in the middle of the carriers where it might disrupt naval bombardments, Avenger strikes, or both.

The problem the Singapore port strikes will face is well over 500 guns. I expect things to be nasty.

After much consideration, I have decided to prepare the free major units in the Pacific for Operation Hokkaido. The emphasis will be on the entry point and on bringing all force possible to capture all bases on Hokkaido itself. Yes. I'll try to find units with the best leaders to prepare for the entry point, which is the only place where 100% preparation is so imortant (in the hope they will prepare >1 percent per day). But if SigInt continues to show a small force at the entry point, I could go in with multiple partially prepared divisions just to get things rolling.

I guess I should look at garrison requirements, too.

Of course air strikes assisted also but are not shown above. I'm surprised we managed to burn up all the defenders' supply. The Imperials are now making for Nago, so all the armor and two of the infantry divisions will attack tomorrow. The other four divisions will recover disruption and then rotate in. It sure would be nice to prevent some of the estimated 418 guns still with that army from reaching Nago. Additional supply is on the way from Guam; support ships are on the way from Daito Shoto; an additional contingent of mine sweepers is on the way from Daito Shoto; engineers and base forces are on the way from (near) Daito Shoto. Some of the latter transports will begin taking off the most battered infantry divisions after unloading their present guests. The base facilities are shattered and will take a number of days to square away before construction can begin.

The IJN destroyers apparently decided to withdraw, and got out without being seen, so I suppose they used the same secret passageway by which they arrived.. The cruisers will bombard tonight while the battleships recover ops points.

The Amami Oshima invasion convoys are heading straight for Tokunoshima (about 4 days away), 1 hex from their target. When all troop convoys have arrived there they will proceed to target without waiting for the LST supply convoy, which can begin landing on D+1 if necessary. No shock attack necessary for landing on Amami Oshima. Daito Shoto port has maxed out at size 3 and the airfield is building again (4 + 21%, max 6).
