Winter 41 for German units

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Winter 41 for German units

Post by Jayhawk301 »

I'm fairly new to the game been playing the AI in different attempts at learning so I started Bitter End campaign and did well for me anyways. By October before the Mud I had established a defensive line Starting at Stalino in the south and roughly a line then to Kharkov to Kursk to Orel to Kuluga to Vyazma to Ilmen lake and then have Leningrad surrounded but not taken.

So I had not taken Leningrad or Moscow. But had destroyed 308 units and killed captured 2.9 million SU troops. Had pulled my armor off the line and thought my units were set for the winter.

In some areas i had no soviet troops really as I had wiped them out. But once the mud left I had soviet units every where.Looked like the IA had made 100 or more units and were pushing me back in several places. I was spread to thin in some areas and kept having to give ground and pull back from Leningrad.

So I'm looking for suggestions on what helps German player hold up better or best he can in first winter.

Welcome to the forum Jayhawk

The AI spams units @ no AP cost.

To help with the winter:
1 Take L'grad next time to free the Finns
2 You probably pulled too much strength out of the front line
3 Look at the many AARs which cover the 1st winter.

Thank you for the response I did pull out to much I think as I had to many gaps the SU units came thru. I will read the AAr's and work on taking Leningrad next time.
