strategic bombing in rain

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

strategic bombing in rain

Post by bairdlander2 »

Is it a total waste of time?Or is it effective at low altitudes?Does the rain diminish flak effects?

So strategic bombing can be effective at lower altitudes?

Well, flak is affected at higher alt band as well (depends on the cloud/visibility level). So you get higher accuracy, but it gets more risky.

I've noticed on typical rainy weeks my bombing is a bit less effective but also I take fewer losses

I actually like strat bombing on rainy weeks (not stormy weeks though)

It is standard practice for HEAVY rain. There isn't a lot of difference between LIGHT rain and CLEAR. If you see 2 raindrops, you should be conducting normal air ops. 4 raindrops though.....bombing through HEAVY rain is not worth it, except that I have found NIGHT bombing in OBOE range does OK
