Supply consumption - bombardment

Post by vaned74 »

The last of the supply routines I tested.

In this setup, a Japanese unit in a non-base hex with 100 24cm howitzers bombarding an Allied Marine Air Wing with 200 aviation support squads.

This one was interesting in that the unit that had the higher supply consumption was actually the target unit.

100 x 24 cm howitzers doesn't actually shoot a lot of ammo in the game - especially relative to 13.2 mm AA machine guns [:D]

Bombarding unit below. The "I like to bomb brigade".

The target unit on Dec 10th. Everything normal before it gets hit - 7 tons of supply consumed per day as you would expect.

The "I like to bomb brigade" after the first day of bombarding.

Supply consumption basically doubled - used I am guessing 7 tons in bombing the target.

The target after the first day of being bombarded. Note how much supply was used. I guess the few shells incoming really plastered scored on the supply dumps.

The next day and subsequent bombardments all produce similar results.

Again key variables are not accounted for.

You need to provide the full conditions of your "tests".

The I like to be bombed unit is apptly named cause its morale goes up while being hit and cannot shoot back. One would assume these conditions would lower morale.

But the unit pic also seems to show some guys playing cards [:D]

I guess Aviation Support, as a support squad, is not on the frontlines. The bombardment hit empty trenches and only few shells flew far enough to actually hit rear area troops.

I would put infantry squads in place of the aviation support squads and redo the whole test.
