Windows 10 Full Screen and slow running problems
I am a historian and not a computer guy in any respect other then basics...
I just updated my computer to windows 10 and the game runs only 3/4 of the screen size and it is very slow when navigating or building fleets ect.
I have read many other people talking about changing "switches" to fix that problem but I have no clue what that is or means?
Can anyone help? Or give advice on how an old hand should proceed with my limited knowledge?
Best to all!

how do you change these switches? How do I edit them I do not know where to find them to change them lol
RE: Windows 10 Full Screen and slow running problems
you probably have a readme file that explains. I just went through this and this is what I did.
Open the game installation folder and find a file named War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe. Click with your right mouse button over it and selectSend to > Desktop (create a shortcut). This will create a new shortcut for the game.
Click with the right mouse button on the new shortcut and select "Properties". Add the -w -px1920 -py1080switch in the end of the Target: box line. If the installation folder is the default one, it should look like this:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px1920 -py1080
After adding the switch click on the Apply and OK button. Start the game by using this desktop shortcut. Please note that the -px1920 and -py1080 it's for the case if your desktop screen resolution is 1920x1080. If you have a different one, change px and py values accordingly.

That worked...
It seems like the icons all got very small but it made it full screen any ideas?
This helped completely! Thanks very much!

I have the same issue with everything being small and difficult to read and so I am going to look at changing the screen resolution to see what that does.

There should be an option 'auto-hide'. Not sure where it is in WIN10, but you should be able to type in the window search box from windows icon.
In win7, I can left-click the toolbar and get 'properties' which has it.

Im also having a problem with a white bar that runs across the top of the game that says "War in the Pacific - Admirals Edition" I cant get it to move and if I right click it no joy! Any way to get it full without that bar on top?
Any thoughts?
Thanks again to all who are helping me out!

On that windows bar, you can move it to oneside so it's vertical, just left click on the bar and hold, then drag it to the side. The task bar has to be unlocked to do that.
You might want to consider playing it in full screen mode (not windows mode), that's what I do when I'm actually playing (not playtesting).

What does that mean?[&:] im computer illiterate...
RE: Windows 10 Full Screen and slow running problems
Those are switches, like the ones you added to the .exe file to change the screen resolution. Just add the -f after the screen resolution, leaving a space between switches.ORIGINAL: Admiral DadMan

EDIT: I should add that once you get the game in full screen mode, there will be times you want to see the desktop but not want to shut down the game to do that. To switch between apps that are running, hold down the ALT key and hit TAB. You can hit TAB multiple times until you get to the app you want to use.

\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px1920 -py1080
Change this part to:
\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1920 -py1080
Remember, it's the shortcut that you edit, not the .exe file.ORIGINAL: BBfanboy

RE: Windows 10 Full Screen and slow running problems
add -deepColor to the command line:
\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor
Also, in the PREFERENCES Screen, change MAP SCROLL DELAY to 1 or 0.
Turning off HEXSIDE DETAILS may help.

RE: Windows 10 Full Screen and slow running problems
I upgraded to Windows 10 and I am having the same problems others have experienced, namely The game loads fine but when I scroll the cursor to move the map view it will not budge for a long time and when it moves, it does so very slowly. Only issue is the map scrolling event with my mouse.
I have read above about changing "switches" but I am COMPLETELY computer illiterate.
I cannot for the life of me find the "installation folder". I can find the game fine in my "c" drive and locate a myriad of folders and files etc for the game but not that one. Can someone help an old time war gamer who went to college with a slide rule. I just want to play the game. My guess (for what it's worth) is that if i add "deep color" it may fix the problem. HELP!!
Thanks in advance for for your assistance.
UPDATE: I found the installation folder and added "-deepColor" and i am zipping around on the map just fine now. My question is, now I have two Icons on the Desktop for WitPAE, the original auto run (which when I play the game using that shortcut to start the game the old problem still persists) and now the new shortcut that works just fine. The new shortcut goes straight to the game while the old one brought up options for the manual , updates, etc. How do I make the old shortcut work? can I add "-deepColor" to the autorun and make it work? Do I have to delete the original shortcut and just use the new one? will that do anything to the game. How will i be able to update or access the manual other than going into my "c" drive and looking for the folders.
sorry for all the questions.
thanks again.

RE: Windows 10 Full Screen and slow running problems
I just installed the game on my new computer (Windows10) and ran into the slow scrolling (really, slow everything - each click took a second to process - can't imagine how many days getting subs out of Manila would take). Thanks Admiral DadMan (and others on similar threads) for suggesting adding -deepColor to the command line. I don't know what it does except fix the problem
