Looks like Singapore in early 1942 - in reverse! Were his troops heavily battered or just poor quality ones with low morale (ready to surrender). If the latter, they maybe just wanted to find out what the legendary "Spam" was really like!

It was all the units around the perimeter cities of Formosa herded to that one spot and squashed. I was killing thousands per day upon the mountain with air bombardments. I think they probably love spam!!

China December 1944

Within 2 weeks Tsinian will be in real trouble. There are remnants of the battle of Hangchow moving northeast but there is little AV in the stack(s).

NJP already has 50,000+ troops in the heavy urban hex of Tientsu and I am sure that is where a siege will take place with most of the remaining Chinese army.

Troops just captured Kaifeng and there is no real resistance in the area at this time. A few units deployed to dot hexes to prevent paradrops. This will cut China in 2 pieces.

Western China

There is a pocket of troops left in Indochina. The current stack at Vinh has just over 430AV. I am guessing he has less than 800AV total in the pocket. I have over 2000 AV of troops backed up waiting to clear the logjam.

Up north Japanese troops stubbornly cling to the mountain passes. I am bombing them daily and wearing down the AV. The ground troops are Chinese so it is not an easy fight to clear out. I am not trying really hard.

The plan is to have the british and indian troops eventually get to Chungking.

There is about 240 LI left working for Japan at the bases in this picture including 143 at Chungking.

Eastern China

NJP has about 14 units with 30,000 troops bobbling about north of Hangchow. It looked like they might try to attack the city or maybe move east to attack shanghai. I was hitting them with bombers and they were sending up flak for quite some time letting me know they were in supply. Recently the flak stopped and the direction changed. Not sure where they are going to go but I am not going to waste ground resources chasing them.

Hangchow is being reinforced by all the troops from Formosa and will soon have 2000AV ready to move out where needed.

NJP has another stack of 10 units moving SE toward the coast of the yellow sea north of Shanghai. He is using these as a CAP trap.

There is 1000 AV moving toward Tsingtao and it should fall within a week.

NJP had about 1600AV in Tsinian which he moved out and up toward Tientsin. He already has 100,000 troops in that city. It is logical for him to hole up in that city and Peiping for defense.

I dont know if it is worth trying to crack that nut. I am looking at taking Tangshan just east and getting a huge bombardment fleet set up there while picking a better beachead along the Korean coast to port my army over. I want to take Korea and then maybe invade the japanese mainland from Fusan.

His need to defend the Tientsin -> Peiping line opens up Chinchow or the hail mary right into Korea ..It will be interesting what recon and sigint show how the IJ are defending this untenable position

You are correct. I have no intention of slamming my head against the wall. I am thinking directly onto the beaches on the west side of Korea.

Port Arthur has 24K troops and 200 guns. He probably does not have much on those western bases that do not have any production.

I am assembling the bargy ships as we speak LCI,LST,apd. Tsingtao is going to drop within a week giving me a decent size airfield closer to those bases.

My 16/45 Mk 6 gun is broken. I have over 7100 rearm in Hong Kong which is a shipyard size 50 with 132 Naval Support.

Shanghai is re-building the shipyard there and has 8800 rearm due to a naval fleet base and 564 Naval Support.

So, what level do I need? The effect which was noted as one of the parts of the calculation is 2048.

China is falling back in Russia. The big guns can tear units apart. I am doing 1000+ casualties per turn with a few large stacks of artillery.

NJP has 2000AV+ up in northern Russia. His supply lines are cut again along with the rail lines. I think one of the biggest mistakes he made in the Russian campaign was to not secure the central supply lines before rushing north.

I have over 2000 AV bearing down from the north and 3000+ av tearing up the central plains. NJP has another large stack in the plains north of Harbin although I am not sure why he is wasting his time up there. He cannot cut me off anymore and the targets for Russia are the large towns such as Harbin.

I have no idea how many pilots I lost. NJP sank 4 CVE's in that go-round. Not a great back and forth but I will take it in exchange for the island.

Pools? Pools are for swimming in!!! My pilot pools are horrible. I am wielding the airforce like a club rather than a saber.

NJP's entire surface fleet is at Moppo, 2 hexes northeast of me. If I cant get my carriers out of danger this next turn is going to be awful. Havent decided what to do yet. I have about 6 hours to figure it out.

The naval portion of this game is pretty much over. NJP just lost a good portion of his air arm attacking my carrier fleet.

The reason for capturing Saishu To and most likely Moppo next is to allow me easier access to the western beaches of Korea.

From now the game is mostly going to center around LBA and large troop movements.
