Hi All,

A good day for the Empire of the Sun......

---------------------

SoPac:

The small, ad hoc, SC TF reached Terapo overnight and destroyed the Allied TF easily without loss. It was totally undefended. 60 guns and 32 vehicles were also reported lost (assume from a BF or a Rgt). They almost reach Milne Bay on the way back to Truk and there was no Allied interference. Good.

Little happened over New Caledonia with KB west of Noumea. The Transport TF will reach Noumea tomorrow. A couple of P38 sweeps over New Caledonia shot down 4 x Zero and 1 x Oscar for the loss of 2 x P38G.

---------------------

Burma:

A massive series of air battles took place over the Japanese lines and forces at Mandalay.

Firstly 31 x Oscar IIa swept the skies but suffered heavily against 26 Allied fighters (Hurri's, Spits and P40K's) losing 11 of their number for 5 enemy.

Then the main events of the day (many many Allied raids on my troops) took place with 33 x Tojo IIa and 30 x George capping the skies. They did well, in particular the George's. I lost 13 x Tojo IIa and 11 x George by day's end BUT fighter claims amounted to 55 enemy downed (32 by George's) including Liberators, B25's, Vengeance's, Hudson's, Blenheim's, Beaufighter's, Spits, Hurris and P40K's.

My boys will now rest. I've swapped out the George Ku at Meiktila to be replaced by Oscar IIb's from Rangoon who will CAP in 2 days time, whilst the George's repair and rest.

Unfortunately Tracker stopped working for me about 6 months game time ago. I kept getting error message upon running Tracker. I posted in the Tracker topic but no one could figure it out[:(]
ok, then the industry management screen (j), the intelligence report (i), and then whatever sub reports off of that you care to share.

Hi Pax,

Sure thing. Here's the Industry summary screen. I'll show more over coming turns. The situation in Japan will begin to improve in the coming weeks as I'm implementing your convoy changes - existing convoys are heading back to base, there'll be re-org'd and many ships will be mothballed in ports.

OK, just looking at the industry screen confirms my earlier thoughts.

You've expanded a lot of factories (NSY some, aircraft and engines a ton). This is using up all of your HI so that you are not banking much. It also used up your supply.

In mid-43 if you have aircraft production setup for greater than ~ 1000 plane/mo you are in effect on an auto victory path. Why I say that is because you have spent more supply on the aircraft factories than you can afford AND you are going to be short supply to be able to convert/build the late model aircraft that you would want to have in 45/46.

Not saying this is a bad thing, but it is something that you need to realize. So two options here:
1. this is what you are trying to do, in which case soldier on. BANZAI!
2. This isn't what you intended. OK, then you would want to try to salvage what you can. I can offer advice and suggestions if you wish. Free and easy for me. ;)
Pop up those intel screens and then also add a few more shots from your industry screen: engines, aircraft, aircraft RnD. On all of the last 3, sort by model. For the aircraft and RnD screenies you'll need to cobble several shots together to get the whole picture.

Once we have those, I can help with supply and aircraft direction.

right now with HI, I would suggest you take a hard look at your MSY and NSY builds.
MSY: I generally build almost nothing ... CVE's, a few TK's ... Why? Because they all become allied VP's in the end and I hate to spend my HI on allied VP's. :) So take a hard look at what you are building and why. I have to believe that you have plenty of pools of everything. Halt everything you don't need and then once the MSY pool gets to about 10K, balance your factories to hold 10K. You should start saving +1000 HI/day just from MSY.

NSY: This is harder to do, but .... take a hard look here too. I'm not a big fan of SS after 3/43 because allied ASW gets so strong that they just become VP's and SS are really expensive. Consider that. Exception are any of the Glen subs ... BB's/CL's in the queue ... again tough for me to build. The IJ CL's can barely hold their own against a Fletcher, forget any USN CL where they are dreadfully outgunned. And the Yamato class just use SO much fuel. I love them for bombardment, but the fuel ... I really have to plan for them before I build those last two. For me, as the CV's in accel mode are built, I start to wind down the NSY ... you should be near that point now in mid-43 ....

Supply will have to wait for the aircraft and engines details.

Thanks Pax.

Number 2, definitely number 2[;)] I wasn't going for auto-Vic unless it turned out great in the first 4 months. Isn't my aircraft prod at around 1000 if all on just to be picky? [;)]

I'll post more screens and thanks for your help and offer[8D]

Some things I can explain without screens:

I didn't expand NSY rather I converted 200-300 (from memory) of MSY into them. On ships I decided:

NSY - build all CV's except Shinano (I accelerated Taiho and Unryu which I've recently got) and now accelerated 2 of the other Unryu's. In fact from memory I'm building all other NSY ships except Shinano but I'd have to check to be certain. I love my subs and have a good track record with them in all my games so building all them except the SST's

MSY - turned off all AK's, the dinky CVE's and think I'm building everything else from memory.

Aircraft - I chose the few lines I was going to focus on at game start and produced/R&D'd accordingly. I'll post the full data when next back on my laptop but it was focussing on a couple of fighter types per service, an FB, LB, TB, DB etc

The approach I decided on was based on what I'd read in the War Room, my views, gamble and personal decision making as a first Japanese player but Allied 'Veteran'

With MSY you don't even choose to produce all of the decent TK's? Do you take the frugal view of (almost literally) a TK is sunk so you start to produce one only then?

If you have good understanding on how overland oil/fuel transfers work between bases, you can indeed roll with very few TKs and not make more VPs available to Allies later.
One more useful trick is to stop ships in the building queue 1-2 days before they are commissioned, so that you can restart and quickly have a replacement for your sunk ones when need arises.

Hi All,

A much quieter day overall.

In SoPac my Transport TF began embarking troops at Noumea under he cover of KB.

Nick's intercepted a 4E raid on NG shooting down 2 B24's for the loss of a Nick.

Under the sea a small Transport TF moving 3rd Air Division to Rangoon heavily damaged SS KXVI when the SC and E escorts landed 2 DC hits.

Hi All,

SoPac:

All troops except Mechanised Support of 2nd Tk Div are aboard transports at Noumea.

Over NG a sweep of 20 Zeroes from Gasmata to Terapo lost 9 of their number to 2 P38G's. A follow up raid of Helen's and Sallies from Rabaul lost 2 of their number to keep the base socked in.

---------------------

Burma:

The only Japanese activity was by 31 x Oscar IIb LRCAP'ing Mandalay from Meiktila. This is the first combat debut by these planes and I'm not impressed. They lost 19 of their number to 12 x P40K and Hurri IIc.

Allied bombed my Mandalay troops throughout the day.

Oscar IIb are very good, but it is somewhat late for them.

Barring very poor pilots, you are most likely using them poorly.... i.e your settings are bad, plus with LRCAP they are starting off with one foot already in the grave.

Thanks. They were flying at 15K feet, 1 hex from target. 2/3 of the pilots were 70 EXP/70 air

Was it LRCAP or CAP with a range of 1. Give us a picture of your squadron settings, and at what Altitude the Allies swept at.
