I need help identifying enemy units...

Post by jack54 »

Hi again,

I only play with FOW on; the problem seems to be I never get an idea of what I'm up against. Even up close.

The unit graphic is a hint but doesn't really tell me.

The Jordanian Armor broke up my picnic, I had Shermans but never knew what I was up against.
Another scenario I never knew what was taking out my light tanks and halftracks. I eventually got infantry next to it... no luck.
Hopefully I missing something?
I really enjoy the game but would love to be able identify some things Thanks!

Glad to hear you are playing with FOW. Extreme FOW is even better!

There are a couple of things you can do.

1. Status - Strength.

With FOW, you will see the type of platoons you have, but, it will also show you the losses taken by your opponent. This will give you hints at to what you are fighting against.

2. Unit Viewer (Pressing F3)

When you have identified what you are up against from Step 1, you can use the included Unit Viewer to determine the stats of the opposing units.

In the scenario you were up against your light tanks and halftracks, could have been a unit that has hidden fire capabilities. Depending on the die rolls, it will be revealed, or you will have to sneak up to it and attempt to assault the hex.

With the 1.02 BETA UPDATE, the unit viewer will open on your units.

From there, you can change the country drop down (to Syria or Jordan or whichever) and then scroll through the units.

With Extreme FOW, it's a manual process.

Ok that will help... I'm using 1.02 beta and extreme FOW is on; the unit view opens on my units but I didn't think to change countries[:(].

I can see the guys that took out my halftracks; look like either an AT gun or infantry with rpgs. They're in a village.

Thanks for the help [:)]
