Update on AVLB's and Dozers

Post by carll11 »

I play tested a Golan scenario, Tel_Hermonit_1a_1973 scn. ( Golan 73 map)

I got the AVLBs to lay their bridges ctrl-V, ( shows up as a medium bridge) over anti tank ditches, BUT tanks cannot move across them, when I try it says- ‘unit cannot move through existing terrain’.

Additional problem- I went to the Map, edited it with a medium bridge across a ditch as a test, (the bridges showed up in the scn. map in game)then, a heavy bridge across the ditch in the exact spot ( and I tried another hex next to it) and it still, would not let me cross a tank unit. Ergo, it appears an anti tank ditch cannot be bridged for vehicles, period.

T-55 w/BTU bulldozer blade ctrl-H down left into an anti tank ditch, no dice, it won’t do anything at all, I get the ‘ Cannot fire on empty or unknown hex,or no valid targets or no valid target specified’ message.

Seems strange, has not anyone played that scn. as the Syrians?

Just a random note- Libyan mech inf. have unit icons as mech. Like a bmp ( not exactly but close), look like foot infantry when they move, they have a hellacious movement factor….. ;)

If you put a bridge across a hexside with an escarpment (dark brown), the tanks can't cross it. With that version, you need to put the bridge over a hexside river.

Fortunately, with the pending 1.02 BETA UPDATE, we have actually included anti-tank ditches. This will fix that issue.

Bulldozer tanks are great for building improved positions.

Not much else.

wow,what a bummer.Many Hours of work shot..............

So I guess my only choice it to; a) go in and after laying the bridge map edit out the ditch,so they can cross b) wait for the update ( when do you plan on releasing ?) and it should update my maps and give me the choice to add the new hex design ( anti tank ditch) in place of the present ones so the avlb's can lay a bridge. I will have to change out the terrain in the map manually....

This may sound crazy, but I have to ask, when you do the update, you won't be sending out replacement maps will you, with the new ditch hexs? If so, if I delete the old map will the org /scn file I have set up now, place the units on the new map if named the same?

Not really, with the existing maps, there are locations labeled where potential crossing sites are? Did you see those labels?

Or move the bridge? Don't forget the AVLB can lay bridges across the "hexside rivers".

The next 1.02 BETA release should be in a few weeks.

I have updated all of the existing maps with the proper ditches. If you are using one of those maps, then it will be automatically updated.

This is why when creating your own works, it is highly recommended to use a saved copy.

Mind you, if you wanted the anti-tank ditches replaced with the proper ditches, then I have already done that for you.

Yes, I see the tiny river' hexes but it appears and this just became apparent to me,the Golan 73 map I used is the Feb version, the larger version btw.

The 8/27 version map is what you modified and is 15% smaller.....I saw you had added all of those west to east river hex sides. Thats not not the map I used.

Oh I saved my work, after I placed the Israelis and again after I placed the Syrians.

I would have to go back and start with the syrian placement from scratch...

OR wait till the update>>> IF-The larger 674kb Golan 73 map will have the new anti tank ditches that can be bridged?? please???, I am ok, The scn will use the newer map right? The map name ( and characteristics i.e. environment) are the same the scn. should 'write' the units to the 'new' map.

Will there be a new anti tank ditch map edit. available hexside in the update?

There is one that is 738kb that has been updated.

I don't see one that is 674kb.
