Where are physical versions being shipped from?

Post by AKAGI7137 »

Forgive me - I have already posted in the past about the cost of physical versions having increased and it turns out that the influence might have been changes in the exchange rates.

That said has something else changed in that things are now shipped from a different location??? Once again I am ready to be corrected but I thought if you ordered a physical version it came from Norther Ireland??? (forgive me I am quoting from memory) and yet with a despatch date of 29 Mar 16 nothing has turned up

Not a problem per se but if things are now coming from the US the concern is obviously the addition of import charges etc that I wasn't expecting - certainly something that I have never had on earlier Matrix purchases.

Can this be clarified - where are the games coming from?

They have been always shipped from Portland USA, although there was a brief period (6 months), a couple of years ago, when the parcels for the European customers would be shipped from Germany.
Unfortunately, CustomCD had to close their German warehouse so all the parcels are shipped from USA.

I find it sad that there still is no solution with shipping from within the EU. The extra cost for shipping from US is simply to large. And the extra tax... [:(]

That explains it. I was surprised, when my last box eventually turned up, to see it had shipped from USA.

Previous games seemed to come from Germany or Ireland.

I would think that due to the favorable exchange rates the EU enjoyed for the past few decades, that the cost of creating a second Matrix owned fulfillment location in Europe probably wasn't worth the expense as it was probably cheaper for them to make everything in the US than it would have been to create a duplicate location in the EU to do the same tasks the US location does.

But now with the dollar steadily growing stronger I wouldn't be surprised if a new fulfillment house in the EU pops up sometime in the near future. The days of near 2 for 1 exchange rates are probably going to go the way of the Dodo bird for the next decade or two.

Maybe so.

But I suspect that by not shipping from within the EU costs them business. So while it might be the same, it is likely to be less...

If it only depended on us, we would be shipping from US and EU.
The physical editions are entirely handled by CustomCD, so if they reopen the European fulfilment centre, we will begin to ship again from inside Europe.

For what it's worth, after a bad experience with the physical shipment of DC:Barbarossa, I will never again buy a physical version of a Matrix game, as long the shipment continues to be from USA.

Nevertheless, I must say the support to my issue, by VPaulus [&o], was absolutely excelent, and it was sorted out in the end.
