In CSME, for a selected unit, you can hit the F2 key to view its Unit Handbook entry, and its place in the OOB.

Admittedly, it's not the ideal presentation, it's something that can be improved. We have plans to do that. Not near term, but long term.

Well, show "easier" OOB for a certain unit is good but not critical... i see more important add formation colours to the counters because without a click you have a "clear" idea of who is who in your forces and add a letter in the HQ units to know if is an arty, infantry, tank etc etc reduce clicks.

Any way not allways is possible have this or have it in time [:)]

Thanks for the reply and your time.

I believe these have all been mentioned but in case you are keeping a 'check list' for 'times a feature is requested'.
My humble requests are:

1- view 3 is useless for me, these 50+ year old eyes need better zooms. Perhaps make (1 and 2 closer and 3 the same as the current 2 view) or (3 a closer 2D counter view). Please!

2- allow the unit viewer to work on 'identified' enemy units even with FOW on.

3 -After battle map review.

4- random turn limit for scenarios

Thanks Again for listening. [:)]

Edit: I see Jason mentioned that view 3 is good for artillery tracking...oh well I still haven't used it though.

A surrender button to stop a battle that is clearly lost (like in Combat Mission). In some circumstances a player could prefer to surrender his army before being totally destroyed during so many boring turns.

For standard scenarios or campaigns?

Mainly for standard scenarios against human players (hotseat or pbem). For standard scenarios against the computer is not very neccesary, you just need to exit the battle. Yeah, perhaps in campaigns could be useful.

An option to cancel "Double time". I like to see the hexes where units are able to reach (hotkey H). However, once you press "double time" the unit is fatigued, even if it doesn´t move.

Jason & Crossroads,

Re: Random Scenario Generation - River Crossing Scenario.

In the org file for a random river crossing scenario instead of having the org file generator list the boats separately one-by-one under the parent org, would it be possible
to have the boats (a whole slew of them) listed/contained within say a company file?

As it sits now the org file generates the defender forces, crossing forces and over 600 individual boats under the crossing forces. If the boats could be contained in a
company file(or some other organization) it sure would facilitate easier editing of the org file IMO.

Just a thought,

Thanks

Big Ivan

That's a good call Big Ivan!

We've not really had the chance to plan in detail how we'd like to have the Random Battle Generator and Dynamic Campaigns engine function going forward. What I know from the experience the basics there are really nice, there's a richness of scripting and parameter files to have a certain battle or campaign feel very original be it tactics, force composition, theatre of operations, terrain type, season and weather conditions for example.

Yet, there's still some irks that I for one would like to see enhanced. For instance it would be great if there could be an optional unit placement mode (ala scenario editor) available for player. how hard would that be to implement? No idea yet.

The other side is what I call the "unit shopping list" logic and the details there. Parameter files allow for great detail in specifying the force composition, from infantry to recce to engineers to atgs to support units to tanks to what not. There's a few details there that I'd like to see enhanced. Part of that would be what you're asking too, the grouping of certain elements into logical formations.

We've got a busy implementation schedule, and all this needs to wait a bit longer. But yeah, I really enjoy battle generator and DCG stuff too! At the moment I agree it often benefits from opening OOB and Scenario Editors to put final touches here and there. In future, hopefully less (or none!) of that required [:)]

Would be cool to show in the infobox the type of river, bridge and road of a selected hex. In a similar way to JT games (right click on the infobox) where you can even see rivers beside the selected hex.

Early this morning, I did my very last night shift (ten years of working nights!), left the office for the final time, and walked out into a glorious "early retirement" future. (Ha! Some "retirement". I'll be working on the games -- both CS & PzB -- harder than ever.)

Might we expect to see more and more, and earlier, wish list fulfillment, maybe? [8|] [;)]
