The last (fourth) fleet CV TF is retiring to Guam to replenish. The next employment of the fleet carriers will be the invasion of Formosa so I want to get sorties topped off and replace plane losses.

Have you captured any large Japanese stockpiles of supplies, fuel or oil during the game?

Pretty quiet in terms of A2A. Allies are pounding Singapore, to a (much) lesser extent Palembang, Canton big time, the troops outside of there with 2EB and 1EF, Nago, zombie positions on the Malay Peninsula, a few positions in the mountains of China, troops at Iloilo, and various airfields in the Philippines and Bonins.

Captured large stockpiles - yes, but I haven't kept track. Doubt that I even noted them all in the AAR. Possibliites: Rangoon, Truk, one or two of the Marianas, maybe a couple of the bases on Celebes. Obviously the oil/fuel producers that were cut off before being captured had plenty of fuel and oil. Soerebaja seemed to have a nice supply stash IIRC.

Naha did not, and Nago appears to already be out of supply (had a '-' last combat).

The advance along the Chinese coast is pulling back/capturing supply and resource producers.

We have a thousand AV in two fresh Chinese units - just crossed the border back into China via Lang Son after zombie elimination duty in Burma - and an Indian division just arrived at Lang Son. Another even stronger Indian division is close behind. With strategic road movement capability the Indian divisions will make Kweilin before the Chinese Army formations, so we will have significantly more combat power in place for the first assault. Meanwhile the two artillery Bns bombarding are one equipped with 155 mm and one equipped with 240 mm, the first US artillery of that size in battle as far as I recall.

You mentioned possibly invading Korea and south of Shanghai. Are there any thoughts of invading bases up the river from Shanghai? How about farther up the Chinese coast? This could help cut off the units facing your main push as well as cutting off their supplies from Manchuria. In fact, you could threaten the Manchurian garrison to bring in the Soviets early - I am sure that you could use the ground units.

To activate the Soviets you would need to destroy a fair bit of the Korean Army. I would suspect a fair bit of it to be currently deployed along the western Korean coast in case you tried a deep invasion there. Good rails, mean it is easy to redeploy against Soviets at a later date.

Figure you probably need to destroy 2-3K worth of troops, probably more.

That was the way I took it - but it depends how many units he bled off previously to feed the machine. He may be teetering on the 8000 AV minimum garrison now.

That's still a great amount. If it was late '43 instead of late '44 that might be worth it. But as things stand I think maybe I could put the troops to better use. Even getting into SW Korea or nearby islands should allow me to cut off virtually all material flow into the Home Islands, especially going for Hokkaido too.
