RE: Low Soviet Air Experience

Reading this, I realize that I must be more of a noob than I thought.

Is the following argumentation wrong?

With an IL-2 mission radius of 15 hexes, the german playe rmust be placing his own airfields very close to the front in order for Hermann to achieve this kind of kill rate. The SU-2 has a mission radius of 24 hexes, so is somewhat better suited for airfield attacks, but even with this range, a lot of german planes (Ju88A, He111H-4, Ju88D-1, Bf110E-3 and Ju52/3), can be stationed of of range from the soviets.

In fact, the only planes in the german arsenal that needs to be placed within range of the russian bombers would be the Ju 87B, some of the recon planes and the BF 109E (if the german decides to equip some units with these) plus the Bf109 F's at the very far end of russian mission range.

Having only a small part of the Luftwaffe within range of the soviets means that the bases where these are stationed can then be guarded with Bf 110 night fighters and lots of AA.

Obviously this means that the Luftwaffe will be somewhat less effective, but If I have the choice between "less effective" and "annihilated" I guess I can live with the first.

lol ! ya think he said that - trying to make the point that my opponent is not a nOobinski and that the fighting is very intense. you'll notice I'm still over 5 million troops and he wont hold Moscow long. The factories were evacuated and he holds a thin salient to the town

You play against a noob. Thats all. I killed between 4.500 to 5.000 planes in turn one. This will be a snowball like all in WitE works like a snowball.
The germans are able to made pressure on your airforce and so you will never get that rate or that air units.
