from a long time grog

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

I like how they have abstracted air power and artillery, making panzers and oil king. Great flow and lots of player control on the decisions.. off limited on etc...
Simple but effective, like a multi complication in a fine watch, lovely and works.I admit I keep trying to do things from previous editions.... ha..
I was wonderfully surprised by coordinated counterattacks made by the ai in my first game as German.

One of a kind and I hope more to come. (And maybe an example for other wargame devs?)

well, It is nice that these parts are all interconnected, the fuel, supplies, airdrops cards, withought any one item being too important...
AMAZING depth as I realize my tanks are wearing out and ?I need a refit... and the abstracts really play into the decisions....
I am playing my first real after learner game... Started Moscow or Bust strategy.... very cool, I cannot wait to graduate to a human op.. again Vic you guys are the BEST.....

Yes, it definitely is.

I was able to win as Germany at my 8th attempt and started a new campaign as Stalin.
To my surprise, it's even more fun than the German side! Keeping your own paranoia crisis under control while trying to stop the Huns is really a whole new approach to the Eastern front :)

I just accomplished a massive encirclement, killing 5 armies, but the snow is falling and only a few tanks remain...
Im still trying to grasp how to rest refit and not lose my tanks... I am on the gates of Lenningrad and far from the other two objectives.
Changeling on the easy settings is a nice change...
