For an area that has been over-covered on the ground but sadly neglected in the air, I would heartily recommend IL-2 Sturmovik or the newest version, IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles.

Eastern Front at it's finest.

IL-2 Sturmovik is by far the best WW2 sim out there.

If you want som real air combat and think you have the right stuff, you choose straight and fly in ww2ol if you can. Just bring your "skill" with ya, if ya have any.

Or Aces High. However, watch out or you will however lose your life to the massively multiplayer sims.

Fallschirmjager, what is your opinion of FB against the original IL-2? Is the campaign game any good? That was one thing I wasn't crazy about in the original, linear campaigns. Is the upgrade worth it?

Yes...

Double the planes...new maps (gulf of finland is awesome) Flayable bombers....3 new nations to fly for...campaign

Only problem...sometimes your campaign will just stop when they give you an impossible mission...they need to patch where you can skip them

Thanks for the feedback. They will probably have the patch out by the time I get around to funding the purchase. Are any of the user campaigns developed for the original ,"importable" into FB?

I dont think so

And about a patch...I dunno...

I got it the day it came out and no patch

Ppl have cried for month that the super flak needs to be toned down

Its very very accurate and makes bombing mission suicide

Ok, you can be the beta tester for it, I'll wait a while till they get it right.

Dam, don't you HATE it when something so promising always shows up with a glitch.

One reason I chose to be overly patient for CL.

Forgotten Battles is excellent, patch ETA is about a month.Still plays ok without patching...most issues are with head-to-head play, and a few flight model issues.
