Java Sea. Surviving enemy vessels look to be making their way from Enggano to Cocos Islands. Our destroyers will intercept them.

Nice to see Nago finally fall. I expected some destroyed units though, but it looks like you will have to find their hidey holes.

Re: the subs - I know shipping is getting hard to find, but I also wonder if you have been checking their morale after long periods on patrol. I had some subs on patrols of about three months (because I don't set wide patrol areas that use up fuel) and was checking torpedo stocks when I noticed some of them were not happy with the lack of recreation. I think it affects their overall performance as a crew (detection of enemy, willingness to engage, fixing things at sea, etc.).

Nago recon shows still >28,000 troops! Let's see how long it takes to flush them all out.

How do you find a sub's morale status? I don't think ships have that in this game. Anyway, there is almost no traffic for them to find.

Didn't really expect Nago to fall so soon, considering how high the forts were. But I think you're hardly complaining about that!

So, the formosa invasion is in what, 1-2 weeks? Somehow I don't think you will find that much resistance there. I might be wrong of course XD

An exciting period anyway. Singapore crossing in 2 days, the land battles in the Okinawa islands, Formosa coming soon, and let's not forget Canton and Hong Kong!

Do you plan to use the Nago repair shipyard for something? Or is it just too close to the home islands for your taste?

Up until the last attack I thought it would take longer, but that attack at 4 to 1 showed a big crack. Lack of supply and disruption combined, I think, to undermine the defense. Fighters were first priority, but lately the three bases (Naha, Daito Shoto, and Tokunoshima) expanded enough to bring in more ground strike aircraft which helped. The battleships made a huge difference, especially when the seas were adequately safe that 7x 16 inch armed fast battleships could be added to the bombardments. Now, with Big MO's arrival there are 8 on station. [:)]

I didn't calculate the sailing time, but if the convoys are done loading two days from now (they will tank up on supply, of course), then about a week sounds right.

At Canton I'm waiting for that remaining USA division, about a week away. The artillery will arrive before then and give us recon on the defense. Singapore is over 80,000 IJ troops! I'll post a recon next turn just before the crossing.

Do you plan to use the Nago repair shipyard for something? Or is it just too close to the home islands for your taste?
Definitely I will use it. I'm already using the Naha repair yard since even before it was fully repaired. They are each only 6,000 tons, so small ships - DD, LST, etc. Naha now has a swarm of ARD, AR, and other support ships, too.

D'oh! There goes my ancient brain again taking things I saw in one screen and transposing them to another screen in my ancient memory! Disregard the obfuscation please!
I still contend that subs do not do much if left at sea for too long.

That was about half the armor and all of the artillery. Tomorrow the artillery, about half the armor, and all but one division of infantry will attack. Nago appears to be cleared of mines.

On Amami Oshima the one division still recovering has disruption in the teens and will probably be in great shape tomorrow. AV is 980, also a nice jump. Another supply convoy is unloading and will probably finish overnight. Supply needed is calculated at 8,297 while supply on hand is 140,356 with more unloading, well into the super-luxurious range. That helps units recover faster. Daito Shoto airfield has reached maximum size of 6, and the port is already at the maximum of 3. Some fortifications will be built, but all of the dedicated engineer units will be moved to Nago.

The British LSI(L) convoy came up just short of Cam Ranh Bay so final loading of Takao invasion forces will start tomorrow. The three infantry divisions plus supply all loaded in one day and are ready to go. Size 9 ports - you gotta love 'em!

Is that where the Yamato is? Can you capture it or just sink it?

There is no capturing ships in this game. When a base where ships are in port is captured, there is some random chance of the ships getting away or being destroyed.

I don't know if it's Yamato or the Kongo class BB that was down there (I forget which one). Of course if it is Yamato this gives me a chance to sink it for the 7th or 8th time! [:D]

That is too bad. While some Allied combat ships were captured and used by Japan, most were salvaged such as DD-224 Stewart, later known as "RAMP-224." Could you imagine the Allies using the Yamato for bombarding Japanese cities? [X(]
