Noted in the data that the weapons load for P40s later versions still uses the original two 50 cal synchronised HMG. Later models E K N switched to higher #s of 50s as I recall.

Loving the game play for auto replace with shell of chewed up unit and auto deduct on points.

Soviets considered many US Fighters as overweight so they tended to remove some guns to improve performance and maneuverability. This was especially apparent with the .30 MGs (considered useless except for strafing) but also outer-wing .50 MGs (considered to affect maneuverability too much).

I did some research on this. Soviets habitually removed all wing guns, only using the weapons that fired straight ahead from the center of the plane. Easier to aim, lowered a/c weight and improved roll rate.
