But if that is the case - I would prefer the 3-5 goes back to the border to make any Italian encroachment a highly risky proposition. Moving west just puts the XLIII Corps under threat no?
Yes. But it has 6 in defence and if Italy wants to attack that from one hex then I would like to encourage him to do so.
warspite1

Why one hex? Can the Alpini not attack also?
Sorry. Of course they can attack (albeit half strength). I was thinking they could move but not fight across the alpine hex side (I wonder if that was a old rule I remembered or made it all up).

I must confess that in this discussion I look out more for CW than for France. I am sorry to say that I consider mainland France lost. It is only a matter of time and I would be happy if France held until summer. But France is lost. But the colonies might not be lost. And France could fight on from their colonies. So giving another one up without a fight annoys me.

Sincerely,

Orm

Minister of Defence

Well I will think on it during the day. But if I am to be persuaded I would need to know the plans for Poland.

So far I have no plans for Poland.

If CW makes a combined then I planned to land one Indian Corps in Egypt (The Dutch TRS can not return to base in Egypt). And I would send Wavell to replace Gort as commander for BEF. That is two land moves and two naval moves. So that leaves only one land move for Poland.

If Wavell is to be sent to France then the Indian Corps must be sent to Egypt. But one alternative is to stay in Egypt. One additional downside with this is that the TRS in Egypt is needed in CW next turn.

With a naval the CW would get out the convoy points as needed and some escorts for next turn. This would increase our production.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the CW plans for the impulse (and turn).

Dear Winston

I "politely suggest" that Perfidious Albion sends the entire RAF to France immediatement, if not sooner.

Yours faithfully etc etc

Sir,

I have pleaded for deaf ears that Fighter Command should relocate to France. Chamberlain, however, is adamant that only 20 fighter squadrons can be released for overseas duties. And if Algeria falls the number of fighter squadrons in France will be reduced, since some of those will be transferred to Gibraltar.

Yours Sincerely,

Winston

Okay Ormster. If I am not around later (I won't be around tomorrow evening) then here are my wishes for the French, Soviets and ChiComms. I have inserted an idea for the CW (based around my usual hobby horse) but of course I leave to you.

French, CW(?) and Soviet Combined

French Force du Raide sails from Oran to the 4-box Western Mediterranean
TRS (with Wavell) and escorts from Alex to Western Med 0-box

The cruiser squadron in the Baltic attempts to find the convoys

The CW use two moves 5-3 Inf Warsaw to hex south east and division to same hex. Land Wavell in Toulon.
French 5-3 to Algiers, 3-1 GARR to south west of Metz and 5-4 to southeast of Metz
ChiComm warlord to hex west of Sian
Soviet ENG moves one hex north, 2-5 Cav and Zhukov to hexes northwest and northeast of Tehran respectively. 1-5 Cav to Bandar Shah

Attack Tehran
Attack 5-3 southwest of Warsaw
Attack Algiers

Force du Raide provide bombardment bringing attack to 5:1 + 1

No Soviet HQ support

Both Soviet bombers to Tehran. The 5-range re-bases to Bandar Shah (just in case the Japanese decide to get fresh). 7-range back to Baku.

If it survives the 2-5 Cav advances with Zhukov into Tehran

If a Polish loss then this can come from Lodz or the Division. Ideally the Lodz Corps will advance into the vacated hex.
Re-base Soviet fighter to Tehran (just until I am sure the Japanese are not going to intervene).

If the attack goes with any luck:
Lodz, Warsaw and Brest Litovsk get reinforcements next turn. Krakow, Katowice and resources are under threat.

Ormster as said, I won't be around tonight - or at least not until late - so I am happy for you to deal with any requests for action from the Soviets, French or ChiComms.

Thanks.

At the end of the day they are the Axis so will not play by the rules anyway and are bound to cheat - unlike us glorious Allies.
