Just looking at my game once I'd set up tracker, and although I've been conserving a lot lately I have less global supply than you show here. I'm impressed, and wondering what you're doing so differently? Maybe some of it is RnD.
How much are you building forts? Are you expanding a lot of bases' infrustructure? Did you increase HI/LI?
What are your global numbers on oil/fuel?

Good luck with the midget. Don't expect a lot, but it can work!
Lotta fuel, low probability ... however Murphy's Law does hold so .... Good Luck!

Hi obvert. If I have more supply it's likely by luck rather than design[;)]
Up until recently I was moving a lot of resource around to those places with HI/LI. Now I'm just moving resource from Hokkaido/Sakhalin and Korea back to Japan.
I've attached my latest screenshot showing global fuel/oil pools.
Forts - I feel I'm building forts quite a bit. Basically any base on the frontline or secondary line (Solomans, Marshalls, Mariana's, SRA (incl. Java, Malaya and PI), Burma that has engineers is building forts up to as high a level as they can.
Bases - Likewise. Any base that I'm using as a strategic point is having AF's built up to level 3 as a minimum and those missions critical areas like the Mariana's will have max AF levels built. Ports have only been expanded at those bases in back water that are useful for maximum convoy docking.
HI/LI - no increase of these at all.
Not sure if that helps. Anything else you want to see?

Hi All,
George's kick **** over Burma[8D]
-------------
SoPac:
Allied troops continue to go ashore at Noumea. Just a Naval Guard and a JNAF Unit left to air evac from Koumac.
Over New Guinea my LBA (from Rabaul) targets the Aussies routed from PM. A lone P38G is on CAP and shoots down 3 x Sally. In return 6 x 4E target my Naval Guard outside of Terapo. 18 x Nick are on CAP and claim shooting down all 6 of them for the loss of 2 friendlies.
-------------
Burma:
The Elite 251st Ku is on patrol over my troops at Mandalay and the 36 bad boys do some serious harm on 2 un-escorted afternoon raids by Vengeance's. 27 of these were claimed shot down.
Total air losses for the day read as 53 Allied for 16 Japanese [8D]
-------------
Other Stuff:
R&D Facs bring forward Tojo IIc's to 11/43.

George/Jack are VERY good planes... competitive with early model Bolts/Stangs. The 4x20mm armaments really help.
Your supply looks good for mid-43. You'd like to have ~10M for mid-44. If you do, then you are in good shape for end game because you will have last model fighters in quantity. Sam is even better than George/Jack. Shinden is still better. Frank b and r work good.

Your oil/fuel is a bit low for this time in game. You may want to curtail that and get a lot of fuel back to the HI pronto while you control the seas and before working torps take their inevitable toll.
I have a conservation plan I'm trying to stick to but also want to make some major stopping points with very high forts. I won't talk about them here. [;)]
I know in my last game I over built fields, ports and forts, and I've tried to be more prudent and chose my sticking points this time around
Still, I'll never in a million years make a 10 million surplus in supply. [&:]

Absolutely. I was running my economy dry until I started updating this AAR again and sage advice made me change a lot. I've basically mothballed 85% of my AK fleet, am only gathering resources from Hokkaido/Sakhalin and Korea. I've also mothballed all those PB's and low endurance SC's. Naval unit usage is also being reduced fro mthe virtual constant action of 1.5 years!
In short lots of naval movement and ship usage is being reduced and the focus is to get that oil and fuel back to Japan as much as I can.

Hi All,
A relatively quiet couple of days.
No combat over Burma.
In SoPac Dad's bombed PM for 2 days straight. If he tries a 3rd day in a row Nick's will be on patrol.
Noumea is secured on New Caledonia as the Allies continue to pour ashore. The last JNAF Unit has been evac'd from Koumac. Just a Naval Guard to go.
-----------------
Other Stuff:
Sub Action on the 11th with SS I-21 heavily damaged by an ASW TF near Efate. Shes limping back to Lunga (70ish FLT)
In the Bay of Bengal SS I-177 had a field day mauling an un-escorted freighter TF. She claimed AK's Hunan, Ekma and Loch Ranza sunk [8D]
In China Shaoyang was secured. Troops will rest before heading east for the eventual battle of Changsha:
Ground combat at Shaoyang (80,52)
Japanese Deliberate attack
Attacking force 41881 troops, 380 guns, 72 vehicles, Assault Value = 1217
Defending force 25445 troops, 97 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 605
Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 2
Japanese adjusted assault: 993
Allied adjusted defense: 183
Japanese assault odds: 5 to 1 (fort level 2)
Japanese forces CAPTURE Shaoyang !!!
Combat modifiers
Defender: preparation(-), experience(-), supply(-)
Attacker:
Japanese ground losses:
1908 casualties reported
Squads: 23 destroyed, 196 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 24 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 14 disabled
Guns lost 11 (1 destroyed, 10 disabled)
Allied ground losses:
7825 casualties reported
Squads: 315 destroyed, 27 disabled
Non Combat: 202 destroyed, 90 disabled
Engineers: 47 destroyed, 1 disabled
Guns lost 30 (25 destroyed, 5 disabled)

Hi All,
Fairly quiet couple of days.
SoPac:
4E raided PM for the 3rd day in a row on the 13th. My Nick's intercepted and claimed 8 x 4E shot down for the loss of 7 x Nicks (4 of which were shot down by escorting P38H's).
82nd Naval Guard is now fully evac'd from Koumac. This means the evacuation is complete and 9 units have been airlifted out from under Dad's nose[8D]. All that's left behind are 2 x Armoured Car, 1 x Radar and 2 x Searchlight.
My Midget Sub Carrier ironically spotted and attacked an enemy AK 1 hex from Suva! AK Crater is left heavily damaged by a torpedo hit. The irony is now this sub has been spotted 1 hex from the target I'm moving the sub back out for a day or 2 before going in again to launch the midget!
----------------
Burma:
No air raids by the Allies. George's patrol over Mandalay on the 14th and shoot down 13 x Dakota's [8D].
----------------
Other Stuff:
R&D Facs bring forward Jill 2a's to 8/44.

Hi All,
Currently at my Dads on holiday until Saturday. As such we'll be cranking through 3-4 turns a day and I won't be able to keep up with updates. I'll post an overall update when I return back home.
The midget attack is postponed for now though as the carrier was tagged by an ASW TF (15-34-10) and returning to Kwajalein. I-20 is inbound and will take up the midget mantle when she reaches Kwajalein in 10 days time or so.

15th July-7th August 1943
Hi All,
Dad and I played quite a few days worth of game turn in the 5 days we were there. I don't have a screenshot to attach but I made a lot of notes to provide the July summary which I'll do below (except Industry which will have to wait until the end of August)
-----------------------
SoPac:
Dad took all of New Caledonia by the end of July. All that was left behind for him to capture were 2 Armoured Cars and 1 x Radar!
The only other action has been over New Guinea with 4e Raids from Aus targeting PM and my troops which have now encircled the battered Aussie's who were trying to reach Terapo. Nick's and recently arrived George's have been flying from Buna and Lae to engage the 4E with reasonable success.
The surrounded Aussie's have begun to surrender in 2 recent attacks.
My Mini Sub attack on Suva failed as the mini got caught in Sub nets. Oh Well. A further attempt is being made at Pago Pago as ship symbol appeared in the port there too.
--------------------
Burma:
Dad's enhanced his air attacks over Jap held airbases here. He's now switching his Death Star attacks to keep Prome, Magwe, Toungoo and Meiktila closed. I had to pull to my fighters centered on Rangoon which he hasn't raided yet due to a lack of fighter's that can reach. We're now playing cat and mouse as I occasionally sneak in fighters to a repaired airbase to intercept his raids or cover Taung Gyi.
On the ground the Allies are still stalled at Mandalay and Taung Gyi and have made no further attacks. My 31st Division snuck in behind the Allies at Taung Gyi to cut off their supply. I did try an attack here a few days ago which failed miserably. Now I just hold tight to let the Allies starve for a further month (he's dropping supplies from Transports which I occasionally intercept if and when I can).
------------------
Other Stuff:
No other Allied activity but something must be brewing (likely SoPac or CentPac) as Dad can now muster 5 x CV's and 6 x CVL's.
R&D Facs have brought forward A6M5c's to 09/43. Their Facs have been allocated to A7M2 Sams now.
Combined Fleet units have now mostly upgraded in Japan with most of the fleet heading back to Truk. Nagato/Mutsu and Cruisers/DD's are soon to be heading to Soerabaja/Kendari as a force in being in SRA.
------------------
Points:
Bases:
Allied: +815 points (+1 base)
Japanese: +276 points (-1 base)
Planes:
Allied losses: 600
Japanese losses: 381
Troops:
Allied losses: 151 points
Japanese losses: 23 points
Ships:
Allied losses: 21 ships (+203 points. Includes AK's from sub attacks but also 3 x SS reported sunk by LBA and ASW TF's).
Japanese losses: 4 ships (+26 points. 1 x DD, an AK, AP and SSX).
Total Score:
Allied: +1242
Japanese: +1112

SC's fuel usage is negligible. And they might actually hit a sub sometime! [:)]ORIGINAL: Speedy
I've also mothballed all those PB's and low endurance SC's.
Even if in a pinch, you can put them on patrol in some bottleneck or otherwise important hex. This way they will burn no more than 1 hex worth of fuel a day. And build up their xp up to 45 from pure sailing
RE: 15th July-7th August 1943
mid '43, this is really, really good results. At this point, these losses should be readily sustainable by you both in terms of air frames and pilots.ORIGINAL: Speedy
Planes:
Allied losses: 600
Japanese losses: 381
You need to force this, bleed the allies dry of planes. No planes, no offense.

Yup I'm happy with this. I think it's down to 2 main factors:
1.) The George 1
2.) Dad is, unfortunately, quite predictable with his air attacks which allows me to maximise my Sqn placement and CAP positions etc. He has improved somewhat over Burma recently though in terms of his bombing tactics (as mentioned above).

Hmm. Maybe I'll send out some of the SC's on ASW TF's then. I'll think on it.

I have about 15 of them sitting in one hex patrols near Nagasaki in the deep water areas. I've got a few other concentrations around key deep water areas. I don't expect them to hit, just to potentially to interact with subs so that TFs moving through know subs are around and to combine with air ASW/search to find them. I use the CHa subchasers, the 10 knot 8 ASW value ones for this. The 15 knot boats are escorts for TKs in the DEI. The 20/21 knot boats move with faster tankers until I have more Es.
