Today I stood a long time in the rain, watching a couple of ducks grazing on grass. Pondering on things.

I would not say that my life is like a film. Not even one by Ingmar Bergman.

But I had been on an errand and on the way there it had been blowing hard and rained snow. So on the way back I was already wet but the snow part and the wind had gone. And suddenly, on a lawn, I see the ducks eating grass. And a calm sets upon me and I stand there for a while relaxing and admiring the ducks. And that moment goes on for around ten minutes. I then continue, soaking wet, but refreshed and with a feeling of joy.

OK, OK, whatever floats your boat. Now get back to the game.[:D]

I was, of course, pondering on our 4 player PBEM MWIF game. [:D]

Currently not enough energy to play this game. [:(] So I just read up on some your games instead. [:)]

I want to talk about my favorite hero, Il Duce, Benito Mussolini. He had a rare birth defect. He was born without a Superego.
Now his Ego managed to keep his Id on a short leash much of the time, but especially when he was in front of a crowd he was mostly Id.
You know, like Caliban from The Tempest.

Chipping sparrows are not sexually dimorphic, so there's no way to tell if this is a male or female.

Of course there is Zorch. The bird porn police are so efficient that most sentient beings such as you and I never get to see any of it. Purveyors never know when they may show up, and understand, birds have no constitutional rights and no privacy rights are protected, thus the pornithological police require no search warrants... Excuse me for a moment, someone's knocking at my door.

I am. Hopefully, one of them is why was Seymour was ever employed as a signal officer, especially after the BC raid and Dogger Bank.

Well for anyone interested a new thread has been started (see link below). I am working on the OOB at the moment and then will look to provide details of some of the key ships, before moving onto the battle itself and the various discussion points at each juncture. Hope to see some of you knowledgeable folks there.

Thank-you. I am relatively new to WWI and so this is proving to be a truly useful learning experience. Lots of work - but hopefully worth it!

I have not read it myself, but I have heard high praise for the book The Rules of the Game.

From what I've read about the book, it seems to give a thorough treatment of the cultural/institutional development of the Royal Navy from Trafalgar forward - so a lot of time in the book will in fact be spent away from Jutland, but when it does circle back you'll have a much greater understanding of the doctrinal framework the British commanders were operating within, and will thus understand them much better.

This makes sense - any 'Monday morning quarterbacking' of battle commanders has to take into account doctrinal considerations or else it is completely without context and thus null and void. I also agree with the one review that states any book which is kept in print by a US CNO is worth a look.
