Changing HQ by TOE change?
I have an HQ unit that is a sub command of another HQ and at another date i want to change it to another HQ. Is it it possible to do this with TOE change?
RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
Not sure what you are getting at here. TOE is a different animal than a HQ assignment.
The TOE can be changed using the game editor but that would be a new scenario when you saved it.
You can assign a lower HQ to a different command HQ. I moved 1 Australian Corps from Australia Command to SWPac Command.
They still draw their devices from the Australian pools though.

I've never tried it as a TOE change. Changing as a parent? Yes. TOE? Not sure it will work. Test and post results here ... [;)]

RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
The TOE cannot change by changing assigned HQs. The TOE is assigned by Nationality and Unit type - not just "HQ" but the exact type/level of HQ. You have to go into the editor to change an assigned TOE and that makes it a different database then.ORIGINAL: PaxMondo

RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
Assigned to Headquarters has nothing to do with TOE .....
RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
Did not interpret OP in that way. I read it as: "Is there a way to have the assigned HQ change with the TOE?". My apologies if I miss read the OP intent.ORIGINAL: BBfanboy

If I am understanding your question correctly the answer is yes.
In game you can change the command radius and even change a Army HQ to a Marine HQ if you wanted to using a TOE

Your interpretation is correct PaxMondo.
drw61 many thanks, so it is possible, seems you faced the issue before everyone else.
But i have a further question/confirmation i suppose a TOE "file" for a unit to not change the HQ - so the contrary of what i asked - should not have any HQ in the respective data field.

Your link shows how to change an HQ type and command radius via TOE. I agree that works.ORIGINAL: drw61

What I believe the OP is asking is can you change the HQ that the unit is seconded to via TOE. I do not know if that is possible.
Using your example from the link, to change the Hawaiian HQ from the reporting to the Pacific HQ to another HQ like Southwestern HQ.

seconded
Thanks for the clarification, I do not know if that can be done with the TOE.

I just did a test using the Samoan Marine Bn to see if this works and the unit HQ did not change.
as a side note, TOE slots in the editor have the HQ slots set to 0 (none) by changing this to a HQ of say 104, SW Pacific, it changes the TOE slot from inactive to active. I do not know what implications that may have on the game.

RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
Thanks for testing. I knew about the active/inactive aspect and I also have no idea of the impact. Testing that could take a lot of effort. Maybe one of the dev's will step in and speak to it.ORIGINAL: drw61

RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
Samoan Marines (if same as Stock) were already assigned to an unrestricted HQ - Pacific Fleet.
The thing that makes them static is the Garrison Unit squads in the lineup. I tried to fix this (after I started the scenario) by changing the TOE but that did not change the Garrison squads already in the Samoan Marines - the game does not shed devices when they are no longer part of the TOE (unless they are being replaced by other devices, like sound detectors replaced by radars). I also removed Garrison Squads from the device list but that did not help.
If you want to use the Samoan Marines you must remove the Garrison Unit squads using the editor before starting the game, and change the TOE so they do not come back again. Then go to the pools and set Garrison Unit Squads to stockpile.

RE: Changing HQ by TOE change?
BBfanboy,
I just randomly picked the Samoan Marines TOE to test if a TOE would change the HQ it was assigned to.

Ah crap i didn't understand correctly what drw61 was saying. Thanks PaxMondo for going further and drw61 for testing.
