Casualty VP for HS

Post by UP844 »

I think each time a full squad suffers Casualty Reduction, the opposite side should receive VP for an eliminated HS.

With the current Casualty VP allocation, the elimination of a full is worth X points, of a HS Y points (usually, with Y = ½ X).
If a squad is first CR'd and the resulting HS is subsequently eliminated, the player will only receive Y points; if the squad is eliminated by a single attack, he will instead receive Y points.

Let's suppose we have a scenario where one side has 10 squads and the other one must eliminate at least 5 squads to win. Each squad is worth 2 VP and each HS is worth 1 point.
If the 5 squads are removed through straight elimination, the player will receive 10 VP, but if the squads are eliminated through CR and subsequent HS elimination, the player will only receive 5 VP, even though he has obtained the same final result. [&:]

The attached image shows the final VP count for a game of "J60 - Bad Luck" (nice scenario, by the way): I wiped out the U.S. force to the last man, but the total VP count of 34. Six of the seven eliminated HS were full squads that suffered CR: if I had eliminated them in a single attack, I would have obtained an overall score of 40.

As a quick, stop-gap solution, authors can assign the same VP value to squads and HS, even though this might cause some extra issue in case there are many HS at the scenario start.
