Jul / Aug 1941 - Impulse #11, Allied

With a different change from the previous games, Enrico this time successfully challenged the Axis air armada over Bay of Biscay (which was quite unlucky in the rolls) and performed a grand style landing with USA (which lucked war at 30%).

An initial double landing seized both St. Nazaire and Lorient.
Axis was caught entirely off guard (or better unable to project proper defences ashore) and had to rail savagely troops and forces from where they could scratch them.

The Allied expanded safely their beachead by conquering Brest, destroying a MIL present there and pouring more British units ashore.

By now the W.Allied have enough ports to get even more forces in there once the turn will end, as there are slow AMPHs (2 range) and other TRS loaded with USA forces on the way.

By the looks there is a highway to the Reich which will syphon pratically all the troops destined to Barbarossa in the next turns. Shall this save Soviet Russia?

The Germans have been lucky. Very lucky with rolls - suffering minimal losses.
Though they had to use already an O-Chit to reoganize the whole of their HQs and their pushing power seems somehow anemyc now, as many units got disrupted.
On the other hand ... these LND4 look lost if the Axis has one more impulse.

Meanwhile Germany faces a crisis in the West with a lack of forces able to maneuver (disrupted by the railing) the Soviets have suffered immense casualties in the advance of the Germans which maintained a decent tempo (and took Murmansk too).
Only the Romanian front has been quickly stalled.

Destroyed Pool

The Soviets have lost a lot of units; Germany as stated was very lucky with most of the attacks and still has pushing power in the north.
All Soviet plans got gunned down with the pilot too, so the German one and 1 CVP of UK.
There are some more CPs missing since Japan DoW'ed the USA and Brits.

Due to a fatal error - related to the use of the Supply Unit, this game came to a halt.
We're starting over - this time without the CLs. But due to some real life factors I am short of time for a new AAR.

Thank you for an very entertaining and enlightening AAR! As I've said previously I'm just astounded by how much, how quickly you accomplished as the axis. Good luck in your next game!

I admit the CL change in the new game is quite refreshing, submarines are somehow actually useful now even if just kept as fleet in being.
For now I've been quite lucky in the first turn (3 impulses of good weather! Turn still going.); Soviets are going in Persia and Japan landed there to hold the oil rigs and attacked the Soviets at Vladivostock too (that means though they cannot push in China properly yet and actually Chiang is mounting up a large scale offensive! But without CLs there are somehow also less ships to repair / produce for Japan).

I like playing with CL's too. I feel that it makes the Battle of the Atlantic more realistic and the game goes faster. It forces the CW and the USA to make some hard decisions on how to allocate their navies between protecting convoys and for other missions. Also, CLs can no longer be used to soak up losses at sea.
